992 Targa 20k service

Had my Targa since May 21 and have reached 19k miles, so time to book a service….a few thoughts.

My tyres have lasted 19k, just.
The Targa rattles and I’ve solved most of them with gorilla tape applied to the plastic in the back. The roof has started to sqweak and prob needs some grease on joints; it has had a lot of use.
70mph on the motorway and you’ll keep dry in the rain unless it’s absolutely bucketing or you have to slow down to leave at a junction.
The mpg gets better with age. Get up to 36mpg on a 100 mile trip using A roads and motorway.
Standard exhaust sounds better after a few k.
Getting it wrapped has kept the paintwork perfect. So pleased I did that.

I concur with a lot of your points Wilksy… but I have only had a couple of rattles and was thinking of removing the plastic ‘hood protector’ bar in the back altogether as not sure its really needed? I’m getting similar mpg improvements and agree the exhaust note gets better over time.

It took me some time before I realised the wind deflector has 2 positions and fully raised makes a big difference.

Also find the clever roof mechanism makes it very practical for loading up :)

I went to B&Q and bought a pack of furniture feet pads..stuck a couple under each end of the bar. I read somewhere the bar plays a part in routing the sound from the exhaust into the cabin. No idea if that’s true!

Sorry, but why are you finding fixes for what are quality issues for a £100k plus car? My son has a fiat 595 abarth that rattles less than my 992 C2S. Does that not say something about the quality of the 992? Honestly, I have enjoyed driving my 992 for 20,000 miles but I am hugely disappointed with the ownership experience.
