Cayenne Diesel S oil leak

Hi all, my 2016 Cayenne Diesel S has an oil leak from the timing chain cover. Must have just started as the oil level is still good.

I’ve seen a few threads mentioning this but nothing on how big a problem it actually is.

Dealer can’t get it in for a month and I wanted an idea of how much the fix would be If any of you have any experience?

The issue was picked up by a 111 point check I’d booked with a view to taking the Porsche warranty. No fix no warranty. It passed on everything else.

Wow £5k what an eye watering amount, before I changed my 2015 Hybrid I was offered an extended warranty for somewhere around £900 if I remember correctly. I didn't bother at the time because I was waiting for my new one, but I guess when you get a bill like that, suddenly the extended warranty seems pretty good value.

No replies to this but for anyone interested it was just over £5k to replace the rear main seal.

Hopefully its the timing chain cover as the OP mentioned and not the RMS - that must be a lot less costly!

Sadly not. The bill is just over £5k and my Motoreasy warranty are refusing to pay. I have lodged an appeal/complaint as their documentation tells me "not to worry" if my main seal goes! Parts are quite modest but it was an engine out job so labour forms the bulk of the bill. In the meantime I have to foot the cost and claim back if the appeal succeeds.

It was in for 111 point check when they discovered the leak. Picking the car up later in the week complete with shiny new warranty that will be slightly more fit for purpose!

Fingers crossed you’re successful with your appeal/complaint, it will be interesting to know how you get on, may be a few others on here hold a similar warranty.

Wow £5k seems a bit steep but hopefully your claim is successful. Not sure I would feel confident owning one of these cars without the Porsche warranty even if the warranty cost is a few hundred more per year than a third party one.

unfortunately any repair on these cars seems to run in to the thousands

The Macans have been suffering with this problem and is well known but Porsche as usual are not doing anything about it.
