I watched this with great interest as the Wife is looking at buying a Macan GTS however after seeing this, personally I think the S with some toys is probably better value.

2023 model maybe not, but the previous one - yes, certainly!

I chose the S with the bits I wanted rather than the bits they think I wanted although air suspension was ordered.  Speed wise, I all but drag raced a GTS and followed one on track with the same opinion as the video. Not a lot in it.

I might be rough but I’m slow as well

I took delivery of a new GTS in February, replacing a 2019 'S' and I must say I am very disappointed in the lack of throttle response, or turbo lag.  I expected a ferocious beast as a last homage to petrol, with acceleration to outdo or match an earlier Turbo, but that does not seem to be the case.  The vehicle has been checked in the workshop following my comments to the manufacturer, and all is in order.  Does anyone else feel the same?

We went the same route for our Macan S in fact our dealer hinted it was a better route to go!

I only have an S but find there is turbo lag. I suppose one has to get used to it and learn to drive accordingly. When the go button is deployed it is quicker.
what disappoints me most though is the fuel consumption in normal mode. I was hoping it would be as good as my Audi SQ5 which is basically the same car. The Audi was 5 or 6 mpg better.
I would of thought in normal mode consumption would be paramount and then irrespective when the sports button is selected.

Not really, no. Turbo lag is not overly prevalent in mine and left foot braking overcomes any spool up delay during spirited motoring. Kick down is sharp in any gear and the boost button works very well for brisk overtaking.

Average consumption is around 27mph which seems perfectly acceptable for a 2.9 litre motor with 375 BHP.

However, I've not driven the latest iteration with more grunt, so maybe they've stretched this a mite too far now.

Clive

Certainly very close in performance. I'd be quite annoyed to have a GTS and have an S so close given the on paper BHP difference.

I ordered an S purely because I didn't think the price difference was worth it. Test drove an S and thought it was quick enough.

Though still not had a build date. Ordered February.

Problem solved!
A clever technician at my local Porsche Centre discovered that the carpet behind the throttle pedal had been ruched during installation, preventing full depression of the pedal!!
Hence no faults found on workshop code testing etc.
After nine months I am now at last able to unleash the power and terror of the beast!  Economy remains 27mpg on the nail.
As someone quipped, at least it has been run in VERY gently!
PS: As a kid, a long time ago, I recall dads attaching a tennis ball to the throttle pedal of the family car when teenagers drove it.  Same principle!

I took delivery of a new GTS in September and the performance is a noticeable step on from my gen 2 GTS, the stand out for me though is the air suspension which is absolutely brilliant.

Would that be a Macan or 911 GTS Porker?
