Fantastic news! That'll be a punchy spec, price wise...

I agree with your comments and assessment on the PDK, being familiar with the 6MT Sypder and having also driven a PDK GT4.

What colour are you opting for under PTS?

James

Hi all
Got a call this week , have secured a new 2022 718 Spyder allocation after many years wait .

Had to go big on spec: paint to sample , ceramics and full bucket seats - car due in December this year .oh and PDK - don’t shout at me but I’ve driven over 100k miles in PDK as well as manual and with long gear ratios PDK my preference ??

Hi James

yes punchy , but this one’s a keeper I hope it will be a cross between my 991 GT3 and my Boxster T that I have loved on road and track Last 3 years .

PTS was a condition of getting the car allocated so still deciding , but stone grey metallic is looking good as I will go for yellow ceramics and the same full leather with yellow clocks and stitching I have now so the grey metallic looks good against the accent colour with silver wheels - just concerned i don’t want to much brown hue in the colour and difficult to be sure from the renders .

the Ferrari red looks great but I can’t bring myself to put that on the porsche !!!

- if I had a stable of cars I might go for the porsche racing green for its history but I’m not brave enough !

PDK is the way to go imho. Driven a PDK GT4 on track and it has great ratios and very quick changes up and down the gearbox. Love my manual Spyder but wish it could have been PDK.

Why was it a condition of sale to buy PTS? It‘s interesting the hoops dealers make you jump through. Not always sure it’s to get a prize from Porsche themselves or an extra piece of profit margin for the dealer.

Enjoy your Spyder. They are fab cars.

Thanks Robin

I agree totally on the PTS dealer comment it does leave a bit of a sour taste - but there was a lot of competition for this PDK car ( one of the last ?) and I can live with it as I think this one will be a keeper and I’ve always compromised to a degree on previous Porsches due to budget

It is outrageous how we are blackmailed for halo cars. The business manager at my OPC said my car was dependent on taking her finance deal. Don’t think the FSA would like that! Could be worse. In the US they charge £10k$+ for the pleasure!

Interesting conversation with a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable young man from Porsche AG who was supporting on the Porsche stand at Goodwood over the weekend. Apparently, after years of development, Porsche can now offer PTS on pretty much any new car order and they are geared-up for a big increase in uptake.

Two other snippets. Firstly, that all OPCs can purchase a 'suitcase' full of all PTS colour samples to help customers decide on their PTS choice (costs around £2k, so the dealership only has to sell around 3 or 4 PTS cars to recover its costs) and, finally, that there is also 'PTS Plus' for those who want a truly bespoke option.

This information was conveyed in considerable detail and with great certainty - but it will be interesting to see whether the reality supports the words!

Easy. Agree to take the finance then cancel it, as is your legal entitlement, within 14 days of purchase. Not so easy. Would probably be the last car you are able to buy from that OPC! :ROFLMAO:

I was told by an ex sales person the commission they get on a car sale is fixed quite low no matter what spec you select however to make the proper money you must sell finance, gap insurance, wheel & tyre insurance etc. otherwise you will struggle to make a decent living.

If that is correct and I have no reason to doubt it I know why after 14 new Porsche to date I no longer match the criteria required for any new halo models

The tail now wags the dog :ROFLMAO:

I didn’t take the finance. I like the sales guy so didn’t want to cause an issue for him. I won’t get offered another halo car but I don’t need one as the 718 Spyder is special enough for me 😀

What's a halo car?

A “halo car” is a car that goes out of its way to push the technology, styling, and performance a brand can offer. Branding. A brand's “halo car” is often the car that brand enthusiasts dream about and drool over.

" full leather with yellow clocks and stitching" "it's a keeper" ! , will have to be with yellow clocks :) , that's one heel of a spec choice though circa >£116k !

Call from porsche Monday - yellow stitching not available and dropped off configurator also - so looks like red accent stitching and clocks 😕 very strange they have the Car and components in Germany but no yellow thread ?.? Anyhow current car leather and yellow accents so ok for a change - just need to sort out calipers colours as yellow won’t work now 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Locked down on the Spyder spec - few changes and balanced the budget a bit better ! yellow interior not available and for a while PTS a dropped off configurator but managed to lock PTS in after conversations as on original specification - Carbonsteel grey metallic PTS , 918 seats , red stitching , steel brakes red calipers , carbon interior package ,lights LED PDLS plus , decided to keep the dials in black not colour this time , PDK .

NO porsche on drive for first time in 12 years as T gone to dealer 🥲🥲
