981 GTS reg EX64 NTK - anyone know it?

So I saw her, and she is rather lovely and pretty good shape overall, very clean and rust free underneath. Drove really well - never driven a 981 PDK before, it sounded so good, better than the GTS4.0 sad to say.

However, for a (7.5 yr old - Dec’ 2014) car that’s only done 22k miles she needed some TLC.

A number of chips, scuffs and grazes, and a fair amount of swirl marks - most of which would polish out (Plus a ceramic coating would be preferred). All 4 wheels need a refurb, the inner barrels were showing some signs of pin-bubbling corrosion under the paint, one was curbed, and they all looked like they’d had some cheap blow over at some point in their past that was now wearing off, making them look patchy close up.

Also needs 2 new front tyres as they are the 2014 originals it was built with and one had a gouge in it (GYEF1s to match the nearly new rears).

And the rear discs were only 20mm thick - I think the min is 23mm? And pads had about 5/6mm on them. The front discs were 26mm - again I think this is the min, though the pads had 8/9mm. Some of the panel gaps around the rear hatch lid and lights were uneven between left and ride side, so made me wonder if it’s had some work done at some point?

Lastly, the passenger sunvisor vanity mirror hinge was broken.

All in I estimate £2000+ of parts and work to bring her up to top notch form. He was only willing to drop £600 off.

Think I’ll be calling OPC East London on Monday for a sitrep on my GTS4.0 order… 🤔🤷‍♂️

Not sure what it (she [>:] [;)]) would retail at an OPC but much of that `work` would have / should be done under Porsche` s Used - Approved standard

Stick with the GTS 4.0l :p

Aye Andrew, you’re right (about sticking with my GTS4.0 order) - I’m just getting impatient and having too much time to keep thinking it over. I’d started contemplating the man maths that ~£50k of 6/7 yr old used 981 GTS represents more value / bang for buck than ~£75k for a new 718 GTS4.0.

There’s a part of me that is actually mildly embarrassed whenever i tell family / friends what I’m buying and how much it’s costing - especially as many folks are struggling to cope with the current rate of inflation of everything.

But Mrs ‘Miller’ set me back on the right path by reminding me that this GTS 4.0 represents the realisation of a 40year long dream since I was 10; and that I work hard, always provide everything the family needs and don’t really have any other vices / hobbies other than my car - so I’ve well and truly earned my ability to buy and own one.

im pretty sure the day I collect her brand new from the OPC (whenever that day might be… 🤷‍♂️) and drive her home, I’ll be certain I made the right choice. 😉👍🏻

One positive from the driving the 981 GTS PDK is that I’ve now totally made up my mind (well 98.5% 😁) on transmission and have updated my configuration (back) to PDK..!!! 😲

Hi Jason

The maths could also see you add ~ £1200 for the eight year service plus same again for a two year extended warranty

Relax [;)] , the time will soon pass

Try some other OPCs Jason, most have had allocations recently and I'm sure you would be able to get a build slot fairly quickly. I ordered a GT4 in April and my freeze point is Sept so no reason why you should be waiting this long.

When I rocked up in my first Porsche, my neighbours eyes nearly fell out (his wife had just come into some money and so thought we were now beneath him). I just gave him a wink and said '5 numbers and a bonus ball', and went inside.

You should adopt the same approach with your F&F. It's not their business and you shouldn't have to justify what you spend your money on. Work hard, play hard. That's what I say!

Dan

I have received confirmation of build slot 29/07 to 26/08 and estimated delivery in September, need to lock my spec tomorrow!

I think the dealer might have had insight of This some time ago but has only now informed me upon my prompting over the wknd.

Anyways, happy days - the games back on after my brief ‘speed-wobble‘ 😉😁 👍🏻
