Broken Becker BE6600:- what options please

my in dash original CD player is producing no sound . I suspect the Becker BE6600 has failed . As these are fibre optic I assume my alternatives are limited ,
I have tried to find a replacement Becker with no luck . It is more for background music really as the sound of the engine & pse is normally enough .
Is there any plug & play alternatives to the Becker ? Or does someone have one for sale ?

Are you getting any sound if you play a CD?
Do you have the 490 or 680 option?  (Harman or Bose amplifier).  If so, the problem is just as likely to be the amplifier.

Hi Ricahard
i have no sound with CD or radio.
i have option 490. I have the Becker amp . It is dated 2007 & my car is 2002 do it was replaced at some point .
mine is a 2003my I think and that is why it has the MOST fibre optic connection on the amp

so would it have had a Harman originally ?
any thoughts on options ?

For some reason the wiring diagrams show the 490 option as Harman, but either way, it could equally be the amp that is the problem.  The fact that it has already been replaced is no indication that it is good.  More often than not, it is the amp.  However, the first thing I would do is check fuse D9, just in case it is blown.

Difficult to know what to suggest without getting a diagnostic check done to see if it confirms what is wrong.  A used amp would cost about £100 and might be all you need.  As far as I know, there is no new plug & play head unit for the fibre optic CDR23.  There are devices which convert the RCA outputs from a new head unit to fibre optic inputs for the amp, so that might be an option.  (No use if the amp is kaput).

The fuses were my first port of call . In addition . When I disconnect the fibre optic cable from the amp I can see red light on the end of one of the cables- so that appears fine  . The Becker amp seem to rarely be for sale in Uk . Plus any that are for sale are about £500 which is madness for a
second hand amp which is average at best
