OPC Nonsense

Morning Guys

As part of my engine rebuild I tried to source a rubber air hose yesterday from OPC. For those familiar with the turbo air plumbing, it connects the thicker metal air pipe that runs under the inlet manifold, to the little stubby metal pipe that in turn connects to the j-boot. It is about 6 inches long and has a right angle bend.

It turns out to be part number 951 110 064 04 - control line. It comes from OPC along with the thick metal hose, and a metal elbow type thing with a valve on top (valve is sold separate), and all 3 pieces connect together with jubilee clips. This can be had for £536 + vat. Quite an expensive small rubber hose []. Why on earth are 3 parts that connect with jubilee clips, being sold as one part, especially when this particular hose is prone to failure after 30 odd years.........all other parts in the entire diagram of air pipes/hoses of course are available separately as you would expect.

So I went to Pirtek so see if they had one. They didn't have anything that small with a right angle bend, and the correct diameter of rubber hose would collapse when bent at a right angle. So I've ended up with a metal braided type of hose of the correct diameter, that will bend without collapsing. It's kind of threaded looking on the inside, softish stiff I may add, so will put some PTFE tape on the metal joining surfaces to ensure a good seal before tightening the clips. A tenner all in.

If anybody has this particular hose or something similar that may fit, give me a shout!

Cheers

Hey Stuart,

Part number is 95111006104 - Lindsey Racing sells a replacement piece for the end with a T off for the one-way valve, I understand the valve is to prevent over pressure but many on rennlist have done without it (as have I currently).

You can completely remove the metal hardline and associated tubing, there are some guides on rennlist for this and also the Lindsey Racing website.

Here is mine currently with a silicone elbow connecting the AOS to the metal tube.

Thanks

Dave

I seen that. It's just the rubber hose at the J-boot end I need (other end of the metal pipe in your picture). Everything else is good and works fine.

I could get a silicon elbow right enough for the end it need. Can you remember what diameter pipe you have there? 19mm possibly?

Cheers

Stuart

Thanks. I've ordered a blue silicon one 19mm-22mm inside diameter. Less than a tenner and looks about right.

Cheers

Stuart

Yes indeed, I could do with buying a new crossover pipe to wastegate elbow but Porsche want £250 :ROFLMAO:

They want another £100 for the flange...

95112302701 Exhaust pipe
95112326001 flange

Sod it I've sent an email to Porsche UK asking what is wrong with the pricing... see what happens...

Good luck with that! Surely better getting it all fabricated by a competent exhaust builder?
