911 turbo 997.2 suspension

Thinking of Changing suspension for mostly road use but some track days
the current set up has been dropped by 20mm with springs
would it be better with new pasm shocks or coil overs?

Hi David

I think it is down to personal preference. With coilovers you will have much more adjustability, but PASM will just give you the easy option of switching at the click of a button inside. You could also get the switchable option with high end aftermarket coilers, but you are talking much more money.

You should have a look at DSC box. Softens up for road and improves on track. It basically re programmes the PASM to use all the range. I found this DSC box with -20mm lowering springs fine for track use if its one or two track days a year. You can buy Tractive Touring or Bilstein B16 coilovers if you really want but I've not had a chance to try mine yet as only just installed and car still in build at the mo. I went for Tractive in your shoes via 9e too and had no need to buy the DSC box as already had one (only paid £400 used mind).

I am keen to follow this thread. I have a 997.2 C2S with factory suspension and PASM and need 2 new dampers fairly soon. I really only do road driving and have found the standard setup in PASM off/normal as stiff on our rubbish UK roads as I would want (especially at the rear where the larger tyres + engine I find thump pretty hard into expansion joints in the road etc). I wonder if any suspension upgrade for a 997 improves ride/range of capability vs just make it 'sportier'/suited for track work.

^^^^ Again a DSC box perfect for you requirement. Just replace the shocks with OEM or you can send back to Bilstein and have the bad ones rebuilt. Give Bilstein Uk a call they're very friendly. 9e sells those DSC box. Or just wait for a used one. I got mine for £400 used via 9e who had a customer selling one.
