Tesla Powered 944

Not my cup of tea and boy did that look like a boring drive, no gear change, no sound.. no thanks....it's interesting to note what some think as fast?... I mean he has a rolling start, no idea what speed but suspect 30-40 and it took 4 secs from when he accelerated to just before he said he was at 60mph....I'm allowing for the time lag in action vs speech... .. sorry but that is damn slow.....

I'll stick with the dino fuel, much more fun...:)

Ouch!

That's a lot of money to spend on a £20K car. Does that make it £100K car? My main reservation (aside the cost) was range. At just over 100 miles it isn't great. But with battery technology improving almost weekly perhaps this could be answer to the reduction in availability of original spares (and petrol) in years to come?

Well John, Porsche have said they intend to support keeping all Porsche's on the road with their biofuel. I would assume this includes supplying the spares required to do this?

Could this be the ultimate conversion? Range seems a bit disappointing though.

Guess they wanted to keep the weight down, so didn't add more batteries / range. Potentially could have put some in wells behind rear wheels, done a bit more more work in the front air filter radiator area to squeeze in more . It would be a bit tedious on a Scottish tour though with even a 250 mile range.
Shame they didn't clean / polish engine bay before dropping in the batteries.
Would be interesting having a direct comparison between petrol / electric from an independent tester (not the builder).

I run an EV as a daily and the range things is less of an issue than you'd fear. I'm physically incapable of going more than 2 hours without needing to adjust my caffeine levels one way or the other, and with rapid charging networks, you can easily add 50 miles in the time it takes to go to the loo and buy a drink.

The car itself is mind buggeringly fast when you give it a prod but after a while the novelty wears off and you end up bimbling about as the driving experience is a very relaxed one. It's brilliant for covering big distances but on a twisty road you're very conscious that the thing weighs the same as a Ford Transit.

Can't really see where it adds anything to the 944 experience other than less stuff to go wrong.
