Dash Cam Help

Hi All,
I'm a new member having just bought a Macan S recently and wondered if anyone had experience of fitting a dash cam to their Macan? I had a Nextbase 322GW with hardwire kit that I tried to install but I can't get any power to the camera. I've piggybacked on a few different fuses from the passenger side fuse box but nothing seems to work. Wondering if the voltage output may be too low for some reason? The dash came works using a separate power cable from the 12v socket in the centre console.

Appreciate any advice from anyone although I have also gone back to Nextbase with a query about this.

Many thanks

Tim

The most convenient spot to take a live feed is from the roof mounted interior light console. But if you hard-wire in a dash cam, you may run into Extended Warranty problems. So it might be better to stick with one of the power sockets provided (centre console or footwell) so it can be removed whenever you visit your PC.

Regards,

Clive

When you ‘piggy backed’ an existing fuse did you ensure that the Nextbase fuse was in the slot furthest away from the fuse panel? Also, obvious I know, but did you turn on the ignition to power up the Nextbase. If you have a voltmeter you can easily check that the fuse you’re piggy backing’ has 12v with the ignition on and that the Nextbase fuse has 12v.

I have a Nextbase dash cam and have it plugged into the fusebox and pass the wire across the top of the screen and into the pillar to keep it neat. I did have it set in Parking mode, but this seems to get the camera quite hot, and it was draining my battery if I did not drive the car for a couple of weeks. I now have it set to non parking mode and it seems to have improved.

I can send you a photo, but it is piggybacking off the 15A fuse that is just below the two 5A fuses in the Passenger side fuse box, the second bank which goes 10A, 5A, Blank, Blank, 5A, 5A,15A (I used this), Blank and then 4x5A

Thanks for all your advice everyone. Would appreciate a photo so that I can replicate and see if that works. If not I'll take it in to Porsche and see if they can advise, they were very helpful in printing out a guide for me showing what all the fuses do in the three different fuse boxes.
