Hi,
Going to Le Mans in June on Eurotunnel and wondered if anybody has had any issues with wheel damage on 992?

I have previously been through in my Cayman 718S and was OK although tight on the sections where the walkways reduce the width. The 992 feels noticeably wider.

I know that you used to be able to request a higher carriage with more width but could not see this when I booked, I understand that this may be due to carriages being allocated based on vehicle information from index number.

I usually follow the signs for the higher clearance carriages which have a wider track. I also find the staff at the terminals very helpful and they have never "stopped" me - in fact in one instance they said it was the right choice.
It is tight in the standard double decker carriages.
Enjoy Le Mans!

I called them last year when my 997 Turbo was not allocated a "high” space by their new system. Extremely helpful, the record for my car was altered and I was given a high space.

i completely forgot when taking the Cayenne to Spa 2 weeks ago, it has option 21” wheels with 315/35 rear tyres. We did clip the metal kerbs but they are chamfered so no damage. However my son did clip a door mirror on the stairs, again luckily no damage.

Definitely won’t forget to book a high space next time.

If any doubt about your allocation, I would suggest giving them a call, really helpful.

On another note, the border queues are long, worse on the French side. We missed our booked train both ways, left the UK terminal on the first call and missed the train. On the return we were in plenty of time, didn’t go into the terminal at all and still missed it. Not a huge issue unless you are on a tight schedule

Enjoy Le Mans.

I recently spoke to one of the managers at Eurotunnel who advised that the cycle option incurs additional cost.

He suggested phoning to request a higher carriage. They are aware of possible damage to Porsches and other sports cars.

Apparently the standard carriages are due to be refurbished to make the walkway edges rounded off.
