My 718 Cayman GT4

Hi all,

I was extremely fortunate to receive a call a few days ago about securing allocation for a GT4. A car which first introduced me to the brand and led to the purchase of my 718 Cayman S.

Here is my 718 Cayman GT4 specification for arrival in:- Q4 2022/Q1 2023

Exterior Colour - Artic Grey, after looking at the available colours and currently owning a Red 718, I think a change is needed. I'll also be looking at some of the PTS colours available as well as wrapping some segments of the car in Carbon Fibre.

Interior - Race-Tex with contrasting Silver stitching, Clubsport Package, Full Buckets Seats with the bets in guards red. I've also added the Carbon interior package (with leather) and door sills in Carbon.

Sound - Bose, I currently have the BOSE system in my car and love playing my music. Although don't think it'll be used much cause the exhaust just sounds amazing.

Transmission - PDK, this would be my first automatic car. I think I'll miss the manual transmission as I truly love down shifting into corners and playing with the clutch while driving but I'm looking forward to the paddles and PDK system.

I'm truly looking forward to receiving my GT4 & the whole process involved. I'll keep this thread updated and if the current build is the one which will be taken to the factory.
I also look forward to any responses about your personal builds, experiences and recommendations.

Hi Stone, and welcome to the forum.

Looking good … although there’s still plenty of time to have the “option wobbles”! 😀

Hope the process goes smoothly for you, and keep us posted on progress.

Jeff

Welcome

Unfortunately your hyperlink throws a privacy warning. Could you post the build code?

Dan

Great build however, if I may, here's some thing I'd change..and there aren't that many.

1. Add climate. The manual ac is a PITA.

2. Not sure why you've opted for the painted climate control panel and in what colour but I'd take that out

3. Remove the painted key and leather pouch. You can buy the painted key shells from parts for just over £100 and fit them yourself (better checking with parts first though). The leather pouch is too bulky anyway.

4. If it's your daily, add the auto dimming mirrors as headlights from cars behind can dazzle as you're just at that height.

Dan

Dan,

I think you are an order of magnitude out with key shells (not £1000) but as I have found with Shark Blue, there aren’t any for the newer colours (unless you know different)

Ralph

Post says £100 Ralph [:)]. I paid that for my Aventurine Green but had to call parts to order them as they aren't listed on the T-equipment or accessories website. Hopefully you'll be able to order them through your local parts dept.

Nice build, I enquired about PTS and was told no problem but up to an extra 6 months of wait time. The grey looks fantastic, I'm specing one up for Oct delivery at the moment, would love buckets but don't think I would be able to get out of the car in the garage :) Will follow your thread with interest.

Hi Stone,

Welcome to the forum and in particular to the Cayman part of the forum which as you have already seen is not only one of the most active registers, but also probably the friendliest and most helpful in terms of practical advice and guidance.

Your spec looks great to me, especially that colour, I think that your car is going to look fabulous. I would definitely agree with your Bose choice, I left it off my GT4 spec and always regretted that decision, I personally thought that the standard radio was very average. When do you have to lock your spec down?

Now, it’s time for the long wait and spending hours and hours looking at other GT4’s on the internet and YouTube, one thing I can assure you is that it’ll definitely be worth the wait, you’re in for a real treat when it eventually arrives. My GT4 is the best car that I have owned to date and I wouldn’t have sold it if hadn’t been offered another Porsche opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.

I look forward to watching this thread grow and hearing about your progress with your GT4.

Martin

Hey Martin,

You're completely right about this forum being active, I've been reading through it seeing what people are up to and it's great. A lot more friendly compared to some other forums which I have posted on too.

I've almost had a change of heart with the colour though as my father has been fortunate enough to be allocated a GT3, which is posted here. He's opted for GT Silver and in some aspects I'd like to copy him or possibly choose a white with more red stitching.

Like you say, from watching so many videos and spending hours customising and looking at the same picture of a car, the brain can play tricks on you. As a couple of months ago I was sure the Artic Grey was going to be the perfect colour but I think I'll be changing it.

Insurance has been a massive struggle for me, but it seems that I've found a couple of insurers who will take me on, come arrival of my car.

I look forward to updating this thread and following this forum.
