Wing mirror moved

Hello all

A strange thing has happened. My driver door mirror has mysteriously shifted position when folded and now rubs up against the window trim. There is no evidence whatsoever of any impact or pressure on the mirror and my OPC say that they cannot adjust it.
Any comments or ideas, please.

Hi Mike, I had the same issue with mine when I bought the car s/h from an OPC, they tried to fob me off with the same rubbish. So I took the dealer principle into the showroom & got him to show what the mirrors closed looked like. He had to agree that they were wrong on my car. The reason I was given was that the mirror had been bent by a pedestrian or knocked on something. They had to order some new parts but they fixed it. Hope this is useful to you.

Thanks Stephen. I thought as much. I’ll get back to them. But goodness knows how a ‘bump’ could be the cause when the mirrors are always folded when parked. Cheers. Mike

Hi Stephen

It’s been suggested that the problem relates to a failed ’stop’ switch.
Did your OPC say what the issue was? And, if you don’t mind me asking, which OPC was it?

Hi Mike, I wasn’t told what the fix was, the OPC was Leeds who sorted it out. I was told by the SE that they all do that! but having looked @ Macans @ another OPC I knew that was not correct hence why I looked @ other cars with the dealer principle.

Mike, just remembered that what they replaced was something that limited the distance that the mirror travels ie it was not stopping before it hit the window frame. This was also on both wing mirrors not just the drivers side. The OPC reasoning was that something had moved the mirror beyond its proper stop, my car is a gen 1 so the mirrors do not fold in automatically, they only fold if you press button on the door.
