After days of troubleshooting and tracing likely failure points for my lack of alternator charging with no clock warning lights with ignition switch on, I'm concluding the clock has called it a day so far.
Had same issue last year but found a blown battery/alternator lamp in the clock being the cause - this part of the circuit to the clock is essential in 'initialising' the alternator for charging on engine start. This time though I have no clock lights - clock itself works but no warning/system lights.
Hours of online searching many past and old threads reveal this is not an uncommon issue. The clock PCB with age often suffers micro cracked solder joints (generally around the connector pins). So here I am needing a Plan B should my soldering skills go south on the day. If anyone has a spare clock in their garage collecting dust and don't mind parting with it then I'm happy to make a cash swap Important though that at least the battery/alt, seatbelt and fanbelt lights are working - others not really used (unless a cab, tip and later airbag).
Thanks
