My local Esso garage only sold E10 unleaded but following a refit this month they now also sell E5 97 Octane which I intend to use. Two questions :-

1. I thought all E5 fuels were 99 Octane but the pump clearly says E5 97 octane.

2. Do I get 6p a litre off this fuel with the Porsche Esso Card.

Thanks.

Esso somewhat confusingly sell two E5 fuels, the Synergy Supreme+ 99 and also a Synergy Supreme+97. Until a couple of years ago they only had the 97 octane, but maybe because they were losing sales to customers who wanted minimum 98 - eg Porsches they introduced the 99 octane formula. I suspect the 99 will replace the 97 in due course.
Esso are also unique in the UK in that their 99 octane fuel has zero ethanol in most of the country even though it is labelled E5 (there is no E0 label). Some Esso 99 has up to 5% ethanol like the other depending upon where you buy it.

AS far as I know you will still get the 6p/ litre of the Synergy Supreme+97 - the savings were applied when it was their only higher octane fuel.
