Satnav Software Update

Hi All
Driving 2018 Macan GTS which has currently got a satnav with version 2017/2018 which I feel now needs to be updated.   I can see the cost is £139.00 via my Porsche & Porsche shop to do this.  But what happens after you pay your monies?
If you purchase this via the shop does it update the car automatically via web or bluetooth or do I need to do something on the sat nav myself.
Or do I need to obtain a set of discs from a dealer.
Spoke to my local OPC and they said they have a set of discs but these are 2 years old and would charge £80 on top of the Porsche price for installing it. (They agreed waste of time as already out of date)
This is leaving me somewhat confused.
Can anyone please advise.
Thanks
Trevor

I'm subscribed to Navigation+ for that £159pa and, coincidentally, I noticed an overair map update downloading on Tuesday.

Hi All

Thought I would update you on this.
Purchased update without problem through myPorsch/Store

Guess what!!! car won't update via embedded sim or independant sim or via house wifi.

My local OPC have played with it for nearly 3 hours and it just says no update found.  All expired Apps still displayed.

Since OPC have played with it I can't re-pair my phone to the car it says No Connect services available please try again later.

OPC now sent data file to Porsche Germany and we are waiting a solution.  Luckily no OPC costs incurred to date.

I can see a factory reset coming.  Not sure this will resolve the original issue though.

Anybody else had an issue?

Trevor

Hi Folks
Another update.  Car spent all day at OPC having a PCM hard reset and a Porsche PCM update.
Still doesn't work and now no longer recognises the pairing code stating "Porsche connect not available try again later".  Saga goes on.
Getting fed up with it now!!!

I sincerely hope that you get it sorted without any more hassle. Sorry to say My personal experience with Porsche bits of IT has left me with no confidence in the stuff or the support network at all. They had general problems with Mecan and Boxster which led to numerous resets and hard resets. You may want to ask your OPC if your problems are related in anyway to those.
I found that the OPC’s showed a look of denial when I raised the subject but did admit to the larger history of the problems when pressed.

I might be rough but I’m slow as well

Hi
Here we go again.
Just had an update from my local OPC Tewkesbury. To say following an email chasing Porsche Technical for further assistance that now all the software tests and hardware diagnosis are complete they have concluded that the PCM is at fault and needs to be replaced.
This has been ordered today with an expected delivery of Wednesday/Thursday with a completion date of Friday/Saturday as long as everything goes to plan.
I must admit that OPC Tewksbury have done everything they can on my behalf but seem to be at the ransom of Porsche Technical UK all the time.

Luckily I managed to get in touch with a lady at the start of this problem who's job title is "CEO Personal Care Manager" she has been a great help as an intermediary between OPC Tewksbury, myself and Porsche Technical.  Giving Porsche Technical the constant nudge they seem to require.

The Tewksbury staff have all been very helpful and communitive.  Really nice cake as well.

They even managed to fit in a major service on my vehicle while it was on site saving me another trip to them in a few weeks.

I am now glad I took out the Porsche used car warranty as they are covering all the investigation cost, labour fitting the PCM and the PCM itself.

Just praying a change of PCM concludes the saga.   It has now taken nearly 2 1/2 months.

Will let you know what happens.

There seem to have been multiple issues with the navigation function with Gen 3 cars probably hardest hit recently.  This following  post chronicles many but also holds out hope of resolution: https://www.macanforums.c.uk/viewtopic.php?t=11955

Hi All
Hopefully final update
Well the car is fixed I now have Porsche 2022 maps along with Google Maps via the internet, Fuel station price searches, World News & Find A Carpark + a couple of others.
The Radio Icons are back and my phone doesn't keep disconnecting.
Problem appears to have been the PCM. Part Cost £2600 + Labour etc.  Glad its covered by the warranty.
Great work by Porsche Tewksbury as this has proved to be a long winded exercise.

Hi Yes

My Porsche centre managed to download UK North & South maps including Ireland and Some parts of Europe without a problem.  I am intitled to 3 map from the pick list.

I also now have a second navigation system via Google maps and the internet.  Both systems give live traffic updates.

I also now have additional Apps that I can now use.  So all Good.

The satnav says map version 2022

I’ve got the same issue. Car been in garage at least 5 times, last of all for a replacement PCM, but over the air software update still not connecting. Waiting for further news next week.

That sounds exactly like my problem. Keep us updated if they solve it. I’m waiting for my dealer to hear back from Porsche
