Power amps

Hi

My Carrera sport came with two Blaupunkt bridge amps under the drivers seat (not quadro's but a pair of 100W bridge amps).

Should these have been installed on a plate screwed into the mounting bosses ? The installation in mine looks to have been butchered by the original owners installer (Mr A911RAT :) ). They were screwed into the floor such that now I can see the road through the holes and each were only secured at one end !. The proper bremen SQR amp cable had been used (911 612 196 00) but with some speaker cables cut and two extra ones run externally.

I also have two more speaker wires under the dash which I suspect come from the smaller 'pod' style speakers in the doors rather than the big Alpine speakers. Should both door speakers be wired together ?

I have taken everything out (including the connections for the 80's car phone but would like to put the Amps back if I could get the correct parts (or was it fairly DIY anyway) ?
I am installing the SQR46 DAB but I am also returning all the wiring to standard, cloth wrapped so the original radio can be reinstalled whenever required. It already looks so much better under the dash now all the chocolate box connectors, and shiny electricians tape have been removed. Just need to patch up the holes.

No one had a look under their seats to see if they have power amps and how they are mounted ?

Ah well.

No power amps here sorry.
Just a poorly installed sharp cassette Hu and change in the drunk. Now replaced with a blaupunkt Bremen Hu with bluetooth and alpine digital amp in the drunk.

Cheers anyway :)
Its not something I have noted before but does yours have two speakers in the door card ? I have the normal large speaker half in the door pocket (!) and an additional one below the window switch.

Not sure if its an additional unit and might explain the extra wires under the dash.

Mine only has the mid in the door pocket (default location) there was an upgrade available from factory with a tweeter further up. Its sounds like you have that!

I am losing even more respect for the original installer of the power amps.

All the wiring at the head unit is back to original and cloth wrapped, however the connections to the front speakers don't make any sound. It looks as if they have been connected in the doors and that explains the extra wires under the dash.

So its door card removal and this is where I find several screws have never been refitted :( will have to source some.

Almost complete but the plastic trim piece behind the locking knob, how does that come out ? Does it revolve out ?

AH, it has a couple of recesses for some snipe nose pilers and then simply unscrews.

Electric window switches are a pain ?, individual crimps and easy to get crossed so staying put for now.

So two new issues.

The crossover unit has been bypassed and the input cable has some bullet crimps in place and only connected to the tweeter.

The big speakers foam suspension around the cone has broken up.

So need some new crimps with translucent insulation and maybe new speakers.
