Slverstone Classic tickets admission date line etc.

Re. Silverstone Classic. We have just been told that our club will not have a site presence over the weekend, we knew only pre-1982 cars were being admitted in-field anyway.
Silverstone have increased the rent for us to I think £70,000! So we will have no-show. But you can still purchase your discounted tickets through the club.

Rent?

Our presence was enough at one time.  We never paid ‘rent’

The Classic was a major benefit for Members, most of those who attended were the silent majority..

Re Silverstone Classic as discussed  the problem apart from the huge cost to our club is the change of date and pre 1982 cars only on the show field, other clubs like the Triumph TR register stand is free! But smaller spot, fewer cars and all pre 82. A way forward might be individual register displays for free and maybe further negotiation with the organisers for a less strict dateline.
As confirmed above our stand was also free

I guess the £70k cost proposed this year is the result of all the corporate additions seen to be making money for the club (might be true or no) and the very drafty but well used stand and nice loos, creating a fabulous and impressive display but is it all necessary?

My seemingly unwanted modern Porsche will not be bothering to attend any more.
They seem to be biting the hand that feeds them.
Oulton Park Gold Cup and Donington Historic seem a far better bet now.
