Hi everyone.

Ordered my first Porsche on Sunday. Not a 911, but a new Macan S. Really great experience ordering the car at my local dealer. Porsche Teesside. Full spec below.

Gentian Blue Metallic
Black leather interior
Pan sun roof
Roof rails in Aluminium
Painted exterior package with Sport design side skirts
75 litre fuel tank
21" Exclusive design sport wheels in Platinum Silver
18" collapsible spare wheel
Privacy Glass
Reversing camera
18 way adjustable Sport seats with memory package
Porsche crest on front headrest
Smoking package
BOSE Sound system

Just going to be a long wait till September (or longer) to get it.

I'd always thought my first Porsche would be a 911. Looked at both Cayman GT4 and 991 T a couple of years ago (both second hand) but circumstances this time meant a Macan would be better suited. Coming out of a BMW X3 M40i, which is a great car, and has been the perfect car for us. But really like the look of the new Macan S, so went for it.

Look forward to getting involved in the Forum.

Hi WAB172Uk Looking @ your spec with 21" wheels I would want to add Air Suspension With PASM, as that gives you the best possible options of ride height softness etc, and i would upgrade the rear camera to surround view to protect your 21" wheels. I use the Surround view a lot. Have you tried the 18 way seats? as i found the 14 way seats better for my build the bolsters are not so intrusive. Also the LED main headlights are a worthwhile upgrade. FYI Another useful forum to look at is Macanforums.co.uk

I would add Black Roof Rails, Lane Change Assist, Seat Ventilation (with the leather seats) and Auto Dimming mirrors.

I agree 21" wheels need air suspension, alternatively steel springs with PASM for 20".

Personally, I wouldn't bother with surround view, but LED's with PDLS+ is a worthwhile option. 14 way seats are better for daily use - the bolsters are much more practiical and less prone to wear.

Clive

From experience driving a standard Macan with 21" and a Macan GTS with 20", I would strongly suggest moving to 20" wheels. Too much banging in the poor roads of the UK .....

Personally, I wouldn't bother with surround view especially if you change to 20# wheels. LED's are a great option and I agree that 14 way seats are fine, no need for 18 way. I had the latter on my Cayman and I haven't noticed any difference between the two.Personally I wouldn't bother with seat ventilation but just make sure you park the car in the correct direction in summer sunlight. Never direct towards the sun as you dashboard and seats will be VERY hot and take ages to cool down. Auto dimming mirrors are essential as is the visor tint on the windscreen. No need for lane change assist unless you think you need it .....

Thanks for the initial responses.

I originally was going to spec air suspension, but a google search showed that they go wrong quite often. I suppose only a problem once out of warranty. An inconvenience with warranty. So decided just to leave standard springs.

I did tick Torque vectoring and PASM. The dealer asked why I ticked these, and suggested they weren't really necessary unless I intended to track it, or drive it like a Hot hatch. They (dealer) don't spec their own demo Macan's with either.

The dealer has a Macan S sat in their showroom, which is pretty much my spec. 18 way seats. Same 21" wheels, standard springs, and no PASM. It's their soon to be Demo car, which they have said I can have for the day. So I guess I'll see how it rides. Sitting in the 18 way seats felt nice. And comes with Memory package. So with 14 way seats, I'd then need to tick memory pack.

As for the ride. I currently have a BMW X3 M40i on 21" wheels, and run flat tyres. The ride is great to be honest. If the Macan is equal or better it, then I'll be more than happy. Be nice to then try a Macan with air to compare though.

I nearly went for the 3D camera. I didn't tick it on the X3, and to be honest, I've managed quite well without it. I suppose it might be one of those things that once you have it, you never want to be without. But I may well tick it after a think.

I selected Chrome roof rails, to go with the Chrome window surrounds, and exhaust tips. They had a customer car in in the same Gentian Blue, but with Black roof bars, windows and exhaust tips. Looked really nice, but I think the Chrome adds a bit of contrast instead of everything Blue and Black.

Think it's very easy to go mad with the option list. So many extras.

Dealer said I'm looking at September time, but with shortages (Mini today halting production) not getting any better, I'll hold my breath on that one.

Just For clarification, Lane Change Assist is not the same as Lane Keep Assist. The former is a safety feature I have found extremely useful as the Macan 'B' pillar does tend to restrict over-the-shoulder visibilty. [:(]

BTW - 14 way seats also come with the memory package. [;)]

Clive
