Service and Warranty

Hi.
Had my 981 Boxster S 2 years now and its due for a major service and renewal of Porsche warranty.
As this is my first Porsche any thoughts or opinions on whether the Porsche warranty is a good value buy and worth doing and if a genuine Porsche service is worth the extra cost over a good independent.
Obviously you get what you pay for but sometimes cost and service don't always align.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

Personally I have my newer cars serviced at the OPC, but I think it's personal preference on whether you think it will help maybe keep the cars value and make it easier to sell or whether you want to save money. There are many independents around Cams/Beds area, some cheaper and less well know than others. I've used Pristine Automotive in Huntingdon, Dive House Motors in Rushden, DW Performance in Wellingborough and RPM Technik, all were good in my experience; RPM Technik probably being the most well know and very well set up but also the most expensive.

Regards warranty, again it's a peace of mind thing like any insurance, but if you are looking for a warranty it's the one to have I think, as aftermarket ones that are decent aren't any cheaper really and have limitations a lot of the time. If you renew the warranty you don't need the 111point check now and you get a discount on the usual cost so worth checking prices etc with you preferred OPC

I agree with Wayne‘s comments. I always have my newer cars serviced at main dealer as their technicians are aware of any issues etc on a newer car but moving over to a specialist garage as the car gets older makes financial sense and a good few of the specialists are well respected and have a good reputation with Porsche owners. JAZ Porsche are a great company and the owner is the Boxster register technical advisor.
A warranty is a personal decision but again for me a main dealer warranty gives me peace of mind . I have had to claim on my warranty over the years with Porsche and have never had a problem .

Agree with all of the above.

Also worthy of note. When you come to part with your pride and joy Porsche Warranty's are transferable. Prospective buyer's will also be impressed that it has that all important Porsche Centre stamp in the Service book.
