Macan Rear Wiper

Hi,

The rear wiper has started missing large parts of the glass and is cleaning only the middle of the screen. The wiper rubber looks good but it seems to be sitting away from the glass.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Robert

This is one of the worst points of the Macan.

The rear wiper set up (to me as a non-techy) is poor, not weighted correctly and leads to excessive replacements of the wiper, at cost!

Don't think you can do much other than bite the bullet and change it.

I removed mine & turned it round, by removing it from the mounting clip. Then refitting the other way round. That cured it for about a year, but since replaced with a new one from OPC with PCGB discount of course.

Check there is adequate tension in the arm spring and it is not overly stretched or damaged. Check the hinge section moves freely. Remove the blade from the arm and clean it using a weak washing up liquid solution. Refit in the reverse direction if you think this might help.

Skipping or streaking over the glass often indicates the glass is contaminated by build up of traffic film - the Macan rear screen does get very dirty. [&:] Use an old clay bar (the type used by detailers) to clean up the glass surface and remove the contamination.

Replace the whole arm if all else fails. [;)]

Clive

I read that Porsche are aware of this issue on the Macan. There is a spacer type washer that needs fitting apparently. Mine is going into Dick Lovett Swindon this week for an oil change and they are going to take a look at the wiper.

My 2016 model is now on its 2nd rear wiper, and now that’s failing. On examining it, I can see that the curve is now more pronounced, and a whole middle section is missing the sweep. This is not through usage, it hardly goes out in the rain. And I nearly always ensure the windows are cleaned by hand before it goes out, OCD I know.
Looking online, I found the lowest price Bosch for about £7.50.
