992 Tyres

My 992 GTS has arrived wearing Goodyear rubber. I haven't driven the car in anger or in the dry yet but initial impressions suggest they aren't up to the standards of the Michelin PS4.

I would be keen to hear from current 992 owners as to their preferred choice of tyre ? And how long can I expect them to last on average ?

Kind regards,

Major

Get some pics up of your car Major69, congratulations on getting it.

Can't comment on tyres as mine hasn't arrived yet. ??

Mine came with Goodyear‘s. I had to replace the rears at ~12,000 miles as one had a puncture. Still had about 3mm. Can’t comment on comparison with Michelins but no complaints about the Goodyear’s so far.

Have just replaced my rears, which lasted around 12k miles. Would have like PS4S, but could not get them in N rated form (as far as I can tell Michelin do not produce them, even though they are listed on the Porsche configurator). I replaced PZeros on my 991 with the Michelins and I would highly recommend them - it’s just a shame you can’t get them!

My personal view. I wasn’t a fan of the Goodyear’s, found them to be a bit unpredictable when pushing on, not dangerous, but found I had to drive around the tyres rather than the car. I have P zeros now, and absolutely different experience much more confidence inspiring, and made the car sooooo much more fun. Can really push the car and trust in it. May try Pilot Sports in the spring.

Does anyone know if the PZero spec has changed over the last 3-4 years? Is it a better tyre now than what was fitted to my 991.2?

Useful information , thanks you. I'm surprised the rears last as long, I was budgeting on a set every 6000 miles !

I haven't researched tyres in any great detail yet but I'm really surprised there is no PS4 option for the 992. Presumably the GTS/Turbo S tyre size is slightly different to the C2/C2S so fingers crossed there are more options available when the time comes.

Thank you I'll try and load something once I've cleaned the car and taken some photos the only one I have at present is the My Porsche one showing it coming off the production line. When are you expecting delivery of your car ?

Morning Major, I've been told April next year by my dealer so keeping my fingers crossed. ????

I have the Goodyears on my C2S and still loads of wear after 9000 miles. Found them to be good on the road and for three track days this year. Obviously tyres are a personal choice and all are a compromise but they seem a pretty good one. Friend with Michelin Cups on his 991.2 GT3 at Goodwood in the rain wanted my tyres!
