How to Open my Cayman trunk??

I've made a schoolboy error...[8|]
The battery died on my 2009 Cayman S, with the key still in the ignition I disconnected the battery ....
But like a fool, I then shut the trunk [].
I've done what I thought was right buy pulling out the large red fuse to manually open the Trunk, connected a jump starter, earthed it....but nothing, it still wont open.
Is my Jump Start kit (650 amp/100w) not strong enough???.....does it matter the battery is disconnected???
Any help / advice and guidance gratefully received.
Embarrassed Jon

Jon,

I don’t know for certain but it’s possible that disconnecting the battery has meant that you’re unable to use the recommended method to open the bonnet. There’s a mechanical release in the form of a pull wire in the LHF wheel arch which you could try, but it may be very stiff to operate through lack of use. Probably best to remove the front section of the wheel arch liner to gain access to it.

Inside the front edge of the drivers side door shut is a pull cord, with a ring on the end. I noticed this the other day on my 987.1. I’m not sure what it does. Worth a try.

I think that's the fuel filler flap release? As Jeff says it could be the wire in the wheel arch that you will need to find.

Jon,

The PET (which I think is for a LHD car?) shows it on the LHS. I’d be inclined to try that side first. If you remove the upper fasteners of the wheel arch liner you should be able to get a hand in to poke around for the loop in the wire.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies so far, is the mechanical release wire, on the drivers side wheel arch or the passenger side??

Did you hold the power on the link for a few seconds as i believe there is a delay as when using the key fob.
