Panamera diesel gen 2 / smoking after short journeys !

On short journeys, in cold weather (ie . now). When I stop the car, it can pump out excess "smoke/steam”. This gets ejected from a small outlet pipe behind the offside front wheel.

The garage round the corner that I spoke with about this originally – JMH in Holmes chapel. (so not a backstreet) said it was due to the heat exchanger. No leaks seen anywhere on the pre-inspection in April either.
Apparently, it fires a load of heat around the engine to get it upto spec fast. If I stop early at the school or supermarket for instance, the heat has nowhere to go and it gets "booted out” or words to that effect. If I take the car out for a few miles up and down the main road for 15 minutes I do not have this problem. I also didn't have this issue during the summer months.

It’s slightly concerning and a bit weird.. just wondered if anyone else has this issue? I’ve googled a lot and can’t see anything
Mine is the 296 hp 2015 model.

thanks very much
Ian
