Hi all,
New member here after recently purchasing my 1st Porsche. I have admired Porsche from a far for some time but finally decided it was time. I have purchased a 911 991.2 Targa GTS. Needless to say I love it! Will try and get some pics added once I have worked out how!

Just the one question if anyone can help… any tips for washing it? With the different aspects, bodywork Targa roof and Targa bars. Any recommended products or do‘s and dont’s.

Thanks in advance for any reply’s.

Welcome to the Club and, of course, pics when you have the time to post some up. I use Flickr as a host but plenty of others around.

As far as washing is concerned there are a few accepted basics.

The two bucket method - as the name suggests have two buckets of warm water, one with some ph neutral shampoo added, the other just clean water. You can get grit guards for the bottom of the buckets as well.

Never use a sponge as it traps dirt particles to scratch the paintwork, use wash mitts, one for the bodywork and one for wheels and sills that are likely to be muddy etc. Wash from the top of the car down and rinse the mitt in the clean water between each fresh mitt of shampoo water.

Rinse well.

Use drying towels, not a leather for the same reason, trapping dirt.

A set of Wheel Woolies for cleaning the wheels makes life easy too.

There’s plenty more you can do - a lot of people have a pressure water and then get a snow foam attachment as a pre wash to loosen any dirt. Then there are all the polishes and sealants, ceramic and wax, the list goes on.

Try www.cleanyourcar.co.uk or www.theultimatefinish.co.uk for ideas, or if you want to go down the rabbit hole then go to www.detailingworld.do.uk

Good luck!

Thanks Peter

Think I was a bit more apprehensive than I needed to be with the modern Targa. All was fine washing as normal. Looking good for a few days at least!!
