Hi there

Could anyone please help me suggesting a garage in London to fix a frontal bumper? A guy crashed into my 981 Boxster yesterday and damaged it. He drove off so no details. Please see photos attached.
I have asked for a couple of estimates in 2 different places but I got very different answers. One quote me £3500 for replacing the whole bumper. Another one said he could fix the crack at the bottom of the bumper plus paint for about £800.
Thank you,

Andres

Hi Andres,

For reference about 3-years ago I had to have the front PU, grille and some ducting replaced on my 987 CS when I hit a kamikaze cat. The insurance claim came to about £2,250, of which the cost of the replacement PU was about £760 incl. VAT, with the work being done by a Porsche recommended repairer in Northants.

Even with inflationary costs (paint is very expensive!) the £3,500 quote sounds a bit high, but we’re talking London rates so who knows? Provided the PU isn’t distorted it’s perfectly possible to repair the crack, make good and respray it to a very high standard.

Hi Jeff

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful information. The guy form the garage said the bumper is actually £650 but it's the parts and labour that push the price up to 3.5K.

Have a nice day

Yes, £650+VAT sounds about right for the front PU Andres. Labour and paint prices clearly have gone up significantly in the past 3-years or so! [:(]

If it’s any help we had a similar repair done on our Audi about 3 years ago. Bodyshop ”welded” crack in bumper and repainted. Indistinguishable from new and much cheaper.
