The really sad thing is how quickly the shine goes from the underside components... but driving the car makes up for it...

Ralph,

I’m sure that there’s some “stuff” you can spray-on to keep all the bits nice and shiny? Otherwise it’s down to lots of regular elbow grease!

Small update, well a big one for me at least, the car is currently at Road and Race Restorations having the bonnet realigned as I noticed that the panel gaps were off and the bonnet sat quite proud of the wings. It’s been like this from collection and I thought I could live with it but it’s now getting on my wick! I’ve just been told that it needs 2 new bonnet hinges to sort the problem so it’s now having those fitted. How it got through QC I’ve no idea but it’s being done under warranty. Fortunately I don’t need the car until Monday and my OPC have assured me it’ll be don’t but then. If not they’ll put me in a loaner.

That's a bit naff Dan, glad it's all getting sorted though.  Easy enough fix I guess if it's just hinges...

Yep. Just the hinges Dave And apparently Road and Race are approved by PORSCHE and do a lot of classic PORSCHE restos.

I’ll try an upload some photos if I can.

Road and Race are spot on, it's where I'd take my car if it needed any paint.  They did a repair on Mrs Twinfan's Focus RS which has 'complicated' paint and you can't tell where it was done.

Totally recommended, so you're in safe hands!

This is concerningly poor QC from a prestige car manufacturer.

and shouldn’t the dealers PDI have picked it up as a final ‘back stop’?

good that the OPC is correcting it under warranty (quite rightly) but it shouldn’t have left the factory so misaligned in the first place.

I’ll be going over mine with a magnifying glass on this basis (when she’s eventually delivered…) 🧐

Hope it’s all remedied to your satisfaction asap so you can get back out enjoying her. 👍🏻

In all honesty, my Service guy has said he’s never seen it before and it should have been picked up at PDI. Fortunately I have some photos from delivery which show the issue (good reason to take a friend with you to look over the car whilst you’re a bit giddy) And they’ve approved the work immediately.

So my car was collected from my dealership this morning after having 2 new bonnet hinges fitted and the fit is as it should have been when it left the factory. The dealership has made the assumption that the fabric protective bonnet cover used during transit had become gathered at the hinge point and when the bonnet was closed the material bent the hinges. One of those things I suppose and I’m more than happy with the work completed by Road and Race Restorations in Manchester. You really cannot tell any work has been done on the car.
I am, once again, a happy bunny 😁😁

Update time.

4800 miles in and the GTS is running like a dream. No issues and oil consumption has calmed down a little so because she's a good girl, I treated her to a bit of bling.

Part numbers for those who are interested

Oil

Water

Both for the princely sum of £40.

Looking good Dan - I wonder why they think the GT4RS owners need labels but us mere mortals don't?

No idea Dave but if you look on the configurator, it now shows all Caymans are fitted with these. I'd be interested to see if anyone who has just taken delivery of a MY23 has them.

Something to note is that the 4.0 has the oil/water caps are the other way round to the 4 pot.

I just collected mine last Friday, went through the factory in September and she doesn’t have the labelled caps sadly 🙁

I suspect that's why they now have them!
