Battery Dead - ticking noise from speakers

Hi, I'm new here and new to Porsche ownership (barring a '66 912 a long time ago). I've got a 2007 997.2. I'd be very grateful if someone can shed some light on a problem I'm having.

The battery died a few weeks ago and so I changed it for a new one. I went to the car today and noticed the window down and the fob wouldn't work (windows did weird things last time the battery died too). Tried to start the car and the battery is dead again...

One thing I noticed after the last battery change was that I could hear a ticking sound coming from the speakers. This would only start once I had put the key in the ignition and turned a click but would continue even after the key was removed. There is an after-market touch screen panel in place of the traditional stereo - my feeling is that this is somehow draining power.

Any thoughts before I jump start and drive to nearest Porsche garage would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryn

This may, or may not, be relevant but I had what on the surface of it was a dying battery issue, however it turned out to be corrosion on the positive battery lead terminal where it connects to the power distribution board on the bulkhead. Disconnection, cleaning the terminal 'spike', and reconnection sorted the problem.

Welcome Bryn ...

Trace - pull the fuse for the after market panel, jump - boost start it ... see if the issue recurs

Many thanks to you both for your replies. Removed the fuse to the stereo and this has stopped the battery dying - half way there. Heading into No5 garage in the coming weeks to get the stereo fixed - seems it has been draining power after a dodgy installation. Thanks again, Bryn
