macan gts delivery time

hi all,
subject that has been done to death on the internet I know, but wondering what the collective view was on it here - macan gts on order and expecting Q3/4 22 but may slip to 23. There is the chip shortage and there was the rhineland floods affecting gts parts - both of which are presumably still affecting things?

how are delivery estimates holding up for those waiting- are they coming in as expected or delayed by a quarter or more currently?

about to renew my warranty and wondering how much i need to get as if it's going to be later than Q3/4 next year I'll need the 2 year extension?

thanks all,

richard

Hi, I currently have a 2020 Macan GTS and ordered a new Macan GTS back in middle of October 2021 with Porsche Tewkesbury paying a £3k deposit.

still havent had a sniff if a build date yet, just wondered if you had received any further guidance in delivery

I visited OPC Tewkesbury last week and enquired about GTS lead times and was told a minimum of 12 months.
I have bought cars there before and like the dealership but don’t feel keen
to put £3k into their bank with little
understanding waiting times. The added complication is the forthcoming electric
Macan which OPCs will presumably accept deposits on soon

They were really good, certainly a lot better than other OPC I’ve used in the last. As you say all a bit tricky currently with supply chain issues, will drop them an email and see if there is any more visibility.

I placed my order for a python green gts in September last year, paid the £3k deposit and was expecting June delivery. Now I am told by Porsche West London it won't be until July or August.
Current gts warranty and MOT expire in June, so timing is messed up. :-(

I was at OPC Preston earlier this week getting the tracker reset On my Boxster. While there I was chatting in general about delivery times as I have a Mecan S on order.
Sad to say that due to the conflict in the Ukraine it is expected to indirectly extend delivery times but to what extent is not known.

It was quickly apparent to me, first time around (WLTP testing then) that delivery dates had to be taken with a large pinch of salt. Things have obviously deteriorated considerably with Chips and Ukraine, unfortunately. The delay I don't get worked up about but I'm more aggrieved about the diminishing spec.. SD card slot, gone, Comfort Entry, gone, Contrasting seat centres, gone. It seems each time I create a build code it refuses to work when I return to look at something. ??

Just gives more time to decide on the spec, this is my current spec and would welcome any thoughts on must haves, by the way I see they have hiked the RRP of the GTS by £2k

I ordered my Macan S in February. I was told I was looking at September delivery. But they would confirm, as the Porsche database was down.

I've since asked, but not been given a date. Just "it was on order".

I was also told, I would get their new demo car for a day. Not been contacted yet to book this in.
I was also told Porsche would contact me to get a track day booked in at Silverstone. Still not been contacted.

I'm guessing that as the database was down on the day I ordered, I have now slipped through the cracks. No test drive. No track day. And I'm guessing the `invitation's to events` will go out the window too?

I got the impression ordering my first Porsche might be somewhat special compared to other manufacturers. At the minute it fells no different to walking into my local Ford dealer and buying a new Fiesta.

WAB, I think it's fair to say the car will be special but not necessarily the buying experience, unfortunately! Many Porsche sales executive consider that they are doing US a favour, not the other way around and it is a sellers market. Three years ago I was in your situation and had to make all the running, it was always up to me to drive the process, my SE didn't have a diary it was always "call me in two weeks and remind me"! I have another on order now but from a different dealership.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the reply. Did you get offered a track day at Silverstone? And if so how long after your order did you get the call?

I doubt I'll get my car this year either. Live in hope though.

My current car X3 M40i PCP deal end January 2023. So I need my car by then. Otherwise I may cancel and look elsewhere.

Yes, I placed my order at the end of March 2019 and actually received the email form the Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) very quickly afterwards, unusual from what I've since heard. The dealership are not involved in this. It is possible to call the PEC (01327 855 911) and as long as they can "see" your order in the system I believe it can be organised. I actually did mine in August, before I took delivery but went with a mate who had had his Macan since June but wasn't so impatient! Just to be clear, the Experience is on Porsche's own handling track, you don't not get out onto the Silverstone F1 track, that's a whole different Track Day! As for the wait, well, I'm putting myself through it again, need I say more? You will see a lot more frustration and angst amongst similarly placed folk it you sign up to macanforums.co.uk [;)]

Hello Wab,
I hope the car is worth the wait. The buying experience probably won’t be. My experience supports Neil‘s comments regarding the attitude of the sales people. When I got the boxster I went through 2 sales people at my local shop. From the outset they were only interested in selling finance rather than what model I was enquiring about. After asking if there was a an update on my car I was told they had no idea and it comes when it comes. I cancelled and went to one in the North west. Sales team were better but service left a lot to be desired so my order for a Mecan got cancelled and now ordered with one in the North east. Yes the impression is "while your here sir can we get you a coffee” but that if you don’t want the car then there are plenty that do. So is it me that is the mug. Is it just a north of England thing or are all the salespeople Men and the coffee makers women ?
I may be wrong but I think the Silverstone experience is offered when a build day is imminent. It makes sense due to the long lead times and if you cancel the order.

Wars go on around the world all the time. Yet this war is now responsible for delayed cars being built? Unless Porsche were sourcing parts from either Russia or Ukraine?

And I still don't understand what is causing the chip shortages. Surely Covid can't still be to blame? Seams like every company has used Brexit, Covid, and now Ukraine to restrict supplies and / or push up prices.

Porsche get wiring looms from suppliers in Ukraine.

First world problems, if we moan about an atrocity like the war in Ukraine delaying delivery of our luxury SUV I think we should have better things to worry about.

My local OPC advised that SD card slot and 12v socket were replaced with 2 USB C slots in early build 2022 Macans due to a parts shortage. There is to be a recall to refit to original spec the storage box under the arm rest when parts are freely available.

Ray, my Gen2 car has an SD card slot, a SIM card slot and 2 USB C sockets. The card slots have now been dropped from the spec and I do not believe they will be retro fitted. If Porsche GB say they will I'll reconsider but not on the word of a SE, they just don't seem to be that well informed or reliable, sadly.

Macan GTS ordered 4 January 2021, delivered to me 4 February 2022. Price remained same and small refund for absence of electrically adjustable steering column. Pretty well specced but I regret not going for Burmester and laminated glass. 13 months gives plenty of time to save a little more, and resale prices will remain high for some time.

Polka,
Why are you regretting the absent lamination and Burmester? I've got the glass specc'd, for my own reasons, but interested in your retrospective ones?
Thanks.
