Macan connect contract

Hi, Can anyone enlighten me regarding a request I am getting from Porsche to renew my Connect Contract which I was unaware I had. I bought my Macan new in 2017 and I am only interested in having navigation and not fussed about any other features. This will be the first time in all my years of car ownership that I have been requested to pay a fee to keep my navigation system working. Perhaps I have got this wrong and you only pay for the connect features, help please.
Regards,
Terry.

You only pay a sub if you want the connect services and tracker. You can choose which and renew on the Porsche/Vodafone website. If you don't require any of these you can still use the Sat Nav but I'm unsure if you are able to update the maps. I'm at my Centre on Tuesday and I'll try to find out.

Regards,

Clive

I bought mine second hand and was asked to renew, which I did not as I installed Apple Car Play as a software update and use google maps. I find all inbuilt car Navs ok at a pinch, but they dont stay updated For very long, especially in London where they seem to change access daily. Apple car play can be retro installed from 2017 MY onwards.

This is what I see when renewing for my Panamera - assume it will be the same set of services:

Navigation & Infotainment ServicesContains the following 13 services: Real-time Traffic Information, GOOGLE® Earth, Online Search, Portal Personal POIs, Parking Information, Fuel Prices, E-Charging, Online Map Update, Twitter, News, Message Dictation, Weather, Gracenote Online
Minimum running time: 1 Year
£139.00 (incl. 20% VAT)
Is automatically extended

The tracker is on a separate contract.

In my 2020 Macan GTS these comprises 3 elements:-

  1. Remote Services - allows you to communicate with the car
  2. Safety Services - auto breakdown and airbag deployment notification
  3. Security Services - monitors theft, unusual movement etc.

1,2 & 3 as a bundle are £266pa or £476 for 2 years
1 only is £99pa or £180 for 2 years
2 & 3 together are £235 or £450 for 2 years

Many insurers require an operational tracker is fitted i.e. 3.

Regards,

Clive

I use both but leaning towards Apple CarPlay. It's been made much easier to use since I bought a dongle that allows wireless connection. FYI I've also made quite a few wireless chargers for myself and others using off the shelf QI chargers

Nice, I just stuck a MagSafe charger to the bottom of the armrest, your little insert is pretty cool.

That's an interesting modification, Richard. I wonder if you would care to start a new thread to describe how you did it for us?

Clive
