I have a 1970 911S crankshaft which needs the hardening ground off.
What was the thickness of the hardening Porsche put on the crankshaft?
Ferrari's of this era had 20 thou (0.5mm) on their crankshafts.
The max thickness of shells I see are 1.0mm.
If you grind through the hardening is the crankshaft junk if its too thick.
