As most of you are probably now aware, at long last the dates have been confirmed for the 10th Le Mans Classic weekend, which is due to take place from Friday the 1st July until Sunday the 4th July.

A number of R5 members are already booked on the event, given that it has been postponed for the last two years and have carried their bookings forward.

However we appreciate that there may well be a number of newer members or members that weren’t able to make the date last time that might also like to join us for this spectacular weekend.

There is no specific itinerary for the weekend, although anyone is welcome to join us for the drive down and back. The event will be run for us by Joy and Stephen Fowell of Lycian Events, who are PCGB official partners and in my personal perspective host the best camping village at Le Mans and at the Classic Le Mans.

What is more, they have kindly agreed to keep our group together in a trackside camping location, literally right on the Porsche Curves, it doesn’t get better than that!

For further information, please take a look at the Lycian Events website at:

For those of you that have already booked, sadly the fast ferry that we usually use isn’t yet running from Portsmouth, given this, a number of R5 members have booked on the 08:30 sailing from Poole arriving at Cherbourg at 14:00. We are returning on Monday the 4th July at 18:15 arriving back in Portsmouth at 21:45.

Joy mentioned that some of you have already booked other ferries but she has informed me that you can all transfer to the same ferries as us if you would like to. There is still currently plenty of space on the aforementioned sailings so please be quick as they are likely to sell out quickly.

Joy has has asked that you let her know your name and date of birth as well as that of any passengers that will be traveling with you. It might also be better if you were to drop her an email in the first instance at: joy@lycianevents.com You can also call the Lycian team on 01245 806264.

Finally, for those that are interested, a number of R5 members will be driving down to Poole on the Wednesday evening after work and will be staying at the Travelodge, Holes Bay Road, Poole, BH15 1LS, which is just over a mile away from the ferry terminal.

If you decide to join us, do please let me know and I will add you to our event specific WhatsApp group.

Should you have any questions or queries regarding this event do please let me know.

Yours

Martin
