Tracing Ownership History

First few days of ownership and well worth the wait. Loving the car - the only criticism so far is the level of road noise - but I guess that's to be expected after E Class Mercs !! and my choice of a cabriolet.
I have the service book and the Porsche warranty till next September but not much else apart from the first and last owners names. Two other owners in between. Wonder if the car has ever been owned by a club member. I'd love to build the car's full history. Reg No CU58HYS, an Aqua Blue Carrera 2S Cab supplied in Oct 2008 by OPC Stratford.

Congratulations on getting your car. Due to data protection it is very difficult to get a car's history. There are several things you can try like posting a request here, and I would recommend some other forums like 911uk. The trouble is whilst there are many serial Porsche owners, there are equally owners who fulfil their longtime dream of owning one but only keep it for a couple of years and then disappear from the Porsche scene.
You can ask PCGB if the car has been previously registered with the club. I did contact the Porsche service organisations from the logbook, but that didn't provide much information. Typically they did get back to me, but due to data protection they won't send copies of invoices without the previous owner's approval.
I can't even get the dates of ownership change because the DVLA won't provide that - that seems crazy because it is providing just a date which cannot be tracked back to an owner and personal data!
Good luck with your search.

Thanks CB911C4S and for your earlier reply. I just thought I get more traction if I re- posted under a new and specific heading. I'll start by writing to the owners I do know to see if I can build its ownership history from there and if any members know of the car that will be a bonus.

Sorry I forgot I had posted a similar reply in another thread! Not enough coffee this morning :) Do tell us if you have any success.

Are you just trying to find the names of the previous owners? Or the service history details (other than just stamps in the book)

Hi Rodney, I'm trying to build as much of car's history as I can - owners/service history details (apart from stamped service book) etc etc but thought that the best place to start would be owners - because of data protection.

You may be able to get copies of the service "job sheets" with the owners name / address / costs redacted from an OPC - I was able to do that with a previous car - also, supplying OPC can give you "what porsche know" about the car - its kind of a summary sheet but lists things that may not appear on the service book ( like fluid changes or plugs changed ).

I agree with Paul, that’s what I got when I was chasing the history of my car. Just called them all and most obliged

Hi
not sure if you still own this car
I came across your post I used to own it in 2016.
im a pcgb member
het in touch if you wish

Hi Matt, I am really intrigued by your recent post on my "tracing ownership" thread, your avatar, and your post of Nov 2022. I've PMd you.

Thanks for coming back to me, i am probably being really stupid, i cant seem to locate the PM anywhere on the web site.
I bought the car in 2016 from Porsche Mid Sussex when it had 7k miles on it. It would be nice to catch up and i can possibly pass on some more information that you may or may not have.

Best

Mat

Hi Matt,
Not you at all. My internet history says it was sent late Thursday pm but it's not showing anywhere in the POC portal.
I'll try to pm you again. Let me know it this one arrives. I'll report to the club if there is still a problem. Look forward to hearing from you.
