Cleaning out radiators and fitting mesh grills on my 986

Afternoon all
i have been dodging rain showers today but wanted to get this job done this weekend as the ‘good weather’ seems on its way out now here in Sussex. Autumn is here and winter seems on its way!
I have watched a few videos regarding the removal of bumpers and completing this task. There’s various ones to choose from. One of the shorter ones is here (about 5 mins)

My radiators looked like this;
Allow about a day to do this if like me you are juggling demands of kids/family. Dodging the weather and have other jobs to do (I wanted to look into an issue with the heated rear window, fit a new air filter and new headlight bulbs (to brighten up the commute). It’s also handy if you can get a second pair of hands to refit the bumper also.
I bought some race mesh from Amazon and I have cut and shaped two grills to sit behind the bumper. I hope this stops the worst of the leaves and debris to find its way in. Click this link for the race mesh.

when I cleaned mine out (this is the first time that I’m doing this - I bought my car in august). I found quite a lot of damp debris and leaves and alarmingly a piece of woodchip (see pics).
Anyway everything is now clean/clear. I have fabricated the grills and fitted these (see pics)
The bumper was tricky to refit but after some encouragement (and some swearing) everything is back where it should be!

Did the same a few years ago on my 2012 981S when one of the ac condensers failed.
I fitted a plastic mesh.

Zunsport do the made to measure mesh grilles but fit onto the front of the cross-bars and are not cheap to DIY or be fitted by Zunsport.
This was the mesh I fitted, bought from eBay.
Also easy to cut and attached behind the cross-bars by 100mm cable ties.

My plastic mesh does stop the big stuff from getting in but I still get the odd small stone getting through.
Advantage of the openings being open is that you can get in to remove debris but being open the condensers are prone to damage.
Once the mesh is fitted, its stops a lot of debris getting in but limits you getting in to clean out.
I normally remove the wheel arch liners twice a year for cleaning and to remove stones from the fan shrouds which can jam the fan impeller.
So in removing the front half of the wheel arch liner you then have access to the base of the condenser for cleaning.
