Woeful DAB radio reception

The DAB reception on my car is pretty poor and intermittent.

I love listening to Talk Radio & Talk Sport, but the reception comes in and out so often its painful to keep listening. I give up in the end and then channel hop.

My previous Cayman was great, and my wife’s BMW is superb.

A few weeks ago, I had a call from Vodaphone as the tracker had gone off. They said it told them the aerial lead was disconnected. AT the time I was listening to the radio ok.

Could the fault be a loose or dodgy aerial connection? The last thing I want is for some technician to disturb everything behind the dashboard in an attempt to find the issue. Perhaps I’ll have no choice.

Anyone else had this problem and fond a solution?

DAB seems to be reasonable on mine, Peter, not perfect and doesn’t always lock back on quickly after the signal has dropped. I have a dead spot close to where I live, and all the cars lose DAB, and the 992 picks it up again ok, better than the Cayenne.

DAB reception does seem to vary between vehicles. Driving my own car in the morning, reception was perfect. Driving a loan car back over the same piece of road in the afternoon and reception was diabolical. It may just have been coincidence of course!

I would advise searching for an area in your locality where the signal is strong, then try retuning the PCM. See if that helps.

Regards,

Clive

Hi I am a new joiner to PCGB. I have a 2014 Boxter S 981 and I am considering retro fitting DAB. I would appreciate any advice as to where to go for best supplier/fitting technicians? If such exist.
