Help 964 cutting out when hot

Hi all , i have a 1990 c2 964 that has decided to start breaking down !

The symptoms are when its been running for a while (until hot) when you stop it just cuts out, it turns over freely but there is no spark. If you leave it for a while (say 1 hour) it starts and runs perfectly until it decides to breakdown again.

changed the DME relay twice - but this wasn’t causing the breakdowns !

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Are you able to disable fully the immobiliser and then try? Similar problem many years back (although when hot I couldn't even turn the engine over on the key) - dead ignition until cooled back down. Read somewhere that some aftermarket immobiliser input points/circuit breakers are sensitive to high temps.

Yes Crank sensor! I would change the speed sensor as well best do the two. can be done with n/s wheel off but easer on a lift, you sometimes have to drill them out of the bracket!

Hi thanks for the response , i cant disable the immobiliser myself but will pass on your thoughts to the garage , it did cross my mind but like yourself i ruled it out as the engine still cranks over. My worry is that if its just bad contacts it could be a real headache to find !
