Door locks unlock on key

On my 944s model 1988, I lock the drivers door with the key and this will not lock the passengers door, I also have the drivers door unlocking at the same rime as though the lock button is bouncing on the central locking.I turn the key 2/3 times and then it will lock.
I have to also press the passenger side lock button before I attempt to lock the drivers side, otherwise I cant lock this from the drivers side.
Any help would be gratefully received, I did consider fitting a universal remote central locking system?

Not sure about the ins and outs of your problem (someone will know), but re a new system FYI I have just had an aftermarket alarm removed from my S2. The alarm installer had removed the OEM central locking module, so my Indie had to source another. The idea was to return the car to standard, with just the H&P immobiliser. Porsche price for the module was £546 but they found a proprietary one for £52. Result!!

I now have functioning remote central locking or locking with the key.

Hope this helps.

Hi Graham can I confirm that you only removed the remote aftermarket kit because you wanted your car standard please?
I like the idea of remote central locking as opposed to key remote and if there are no issues to fitting, thats the way I would like to go.
Was there much involved to fit a kit do you know please?

The reason for this was the alarm was obsolete, manufacturer no longer around, and I only had one plipper working. If that had failed I would expect to be stranded! It was also a pain to re arm every time I switched off the ignition (in a queue for example). I think the car would have originally had remote locking.

The work was done by Northway, and I presume that the only difference between key and remote central locking was the control module. Unfortunately the new plipper does not have a maker's name.

I gathered that most of the work was removing the old alarm and leaving everything else still working. Labour charge was about £350, but worth it not to have to pay for recovery to them for removal worst case! My Recovery package doesn't include home start. Just fitting the remote module should be a lot less for someone who knows what they're doing.
