Owned my GT4 since March this year and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far. Completed a few track days, some with tuition, and the car hasn't missed a beat. The car had just over 4000 miles when I picked it up, with what I think were the original Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres. They lasted 3 track days, where I experienced a lot of understeer, there was a lot of trail braking going on!
The tyres were then replaced with Michelin Cup 2 Connects, which I thought might improve the handling of the car, but it behaved just the same - understeer! Someone mentioned Center Gravity in Tamworth would be able to help, and i should see them asap. Phoned up, booked it in on a 2 month wait and luckily they squeezed me in earlier.
On arrival, Pete at CG explained the process for the day.
He takes the car for a short drive, ensures that everything is safe, and then reports his findings to me (and to be prepared for a detailed review) and then talk about the setup i'm looking for.
Sure enough, he gave a detailed review and it didn't sound great. Pulling to the right on acceleration, vague on turn in, tram lining on bumpy roads and a rattling noise from the rear. Then he looked at the tyres, fronts have been dragging and the rears had some blue patches on the sidewall .
Next step is to find the rattle, one of the bolts in the lower control arm was loose.... then, an alignment check. Everything was quite unbalanced left to right and also front to rear. Loads of toe on the rear and not much camber up front explains the major understeer. Different settings left to right explain the tram lining and unsettled nature on bumpy roads. Ride height was at least 10mm too high based on Porsche's recommended settings too.
Then Pete went through a process to drop the ride height, adjust the camber and toe front to rear and balance the car. This is the before and after:

Result is now a very well balanced car that doesn't veer on acceleration, doesn't tram line and feels very well balanced. It feels like a totally new car, wish i'd done it sooner.
If in doubt, go and spend some time with the CG team, you won't be disappointed.
