Hi all

So we had a heavy downpour a few weeks ago, and there was a lot of damp in the nearside passenger carpets and had a few days needing to be drained out. I know this is due to blocked drain pipes, and these are now cleared out (apparently the front ones were the cause, so I am unsure why this would lead to draining in the rear). Now of course the ECU is messed up and I think will need to be replaced at some time. I can go fine as it is, just that I need to use 3 locks to lock the car.

Can anyone give me an estimate as to how much a new ECU will be? I have seen posts of around £400, so that plus VAT and labour, I am guessing somewhere around £1,000?

Also, will this be a recurring issue, that I need to worry about leaving my car out in the rain in case it happens again? Anything I should be looking out for regularly to make sure everything is in good order? It seems nuts that a blocked drain can cause so much damage that it leaks onto the ECU, but there we go.

Thanks,
Dominic

Had exactly the same problem, mine was the internal rear drain reservoirs (?) behind the speaker. The most awful piece of (over) design - why not just run a pipe from the drain hole to the outlet in the wheel arch?!?!?! Anyway...

I removed mine, cleaned it down and dried it out (airing cupboard) and it worked a bit better but did random unlocking and setting the alarm off.

A new M534 alarm module was £429 (with 10% PCGB discount) from Porsche Centre Colchester (guess prices are the same everywhere). Less than ones on eBay from Lithuania which I was advised to avoid like the proverbial plague.

You need someone with the right kit to make the car accept it, get the keys to work properly, etc - the genius behind MDB Diagnostics sorted mine https://www.mdbdiagnostics.co.uk/ - I won't say for how much but it was surprisingly un Porsche like! Car's been absolutely fine since.
