Cridfords Service Recommendations/Reviews

My 718 Boxter S is due its major service (4 years) and wonder if anyone has first hand experience of Cridfords in Ewhurst for servicing. Not used an independent before.

Hi I got my 997 Cabrio back from them on Saturday. 2nd time I've used them and very happy with the quality of work and customer service I'll definitely be using them again, they're fast becoming my default choice.

I'm based between Horsham and Cranleigh with the car mostly kept in Cranleigh so easy for me to get to them. They are also very happy to collect and drop off locally, really good with communications on diagnosis, prices and keeping you up to date on ETAs etc. I was on a cruise ship and they still managed to keep me up to date via text and email. And they always Valet the cars really well which is a nice touch that seems to be falling by wayside with other garages.
Last year I had them look at some misfires that they resolved very reasonably after HD Porsche (another smaller company local to Cranleigh area) couldn't despite them changing packs, new exhaust etc. for over 2K so very happy with Cridfords in comparison.

This time at Cridfords it was new passenger door seal and passenger seat controls, damaged because of water ingress from the faulty seal which was way more expensive than the seal so I should have done it sooner DOH!, along with MOT and AC re-gas all of which was reasonable from a Porsche POV at about £1100 all in. The seat controls were about 1/2 of the total and mostly parts cost.

I've previously used Add Speed in Horsham who were ok but kind of went down hill in my opinion and can be hit or miss on quality (e.g. went to pick up the car after brake rebuild and one of the parking brakes was jammed on requiring a further 3 days for them to sort out) . Parr in Crawley who are very good but seem bit seem expensive to me and always put their bloody stickers on your car even when you aske them not to.
9 Excellence in Horley are excellent (pardon the pun) they did full engine out coolant pipe change, suspension update (old bushings replaced as the car's 15 years old now) and sorted out some high water temps and IMS seal removal for some extra lubrication and peace of mind, Really good garage but busy as a result. All that work was also over £6K (Mrs doesn't know that one...).

For servicing I still use Mid Sussex main dealer so I can keep the stamps up but anything else is specialist now. May switch to Guildford now I'm going to be closer.

Hope this helps.

Hi - thanks for this. I have booked the 718 Boxter S in for its major service next week so it will be interesting to see. They have been very efficient at responding to queries and booking in etc.
I have, up to now, been using PC Guildford but their lead time and prices are getting a bit silly. I am in Camberley so not that close to Ewhurst but its a lovely part of the world so good opportunity for a walk whilst the work is being done.
Thanks again for the recommendation.
Graham

Hi Graham,

Just wondered what your experience of Cridfords has been? Looking to have my 993 serviced and MOT'd shortly. I've used Northway Porsche for the past couple of years and always been happy but Reading is a bit of a trek from Woking so looking for a good independent closer to home. I previously used OPC Brooklands but prices got a bit silly.
Thanks,
Nick

All very positive. Good communications, everything explained and the work carried out efficiently and on time. Full breakdown of the work when I picked the car up and they picked up something that I would never of noticed (tiny lug broken on coolant expansion tank cap) so can't fault them.
So much so we took the wife's Macan in for brake pads recently - same good service.

Cheers

Graham
