Re-joined Boxster Member & Queries

Hi all,
Just wanted to say hello, I've re-joined the club after recently buying a 2010 Boxster 987S Gen 2. Having sold my 987 non-S model 2 years ago I let my membership lapse but here I am again with a new (old) car and hoping to join in club events when life returns to some level or normality which looking at the news today maybe another month away.

Car is a 2010 Gen 2 Boxster 987S, 35k miles, manual in fantastic Aqua Blue metallic (same colour as my previous Boxster).

Although the car is in great condition, when I bought the car I was aware of a couple of aspects that over time I'd like to get sorted, these include wheel refurb and address a couple of minor scratches on the bonnet, boot and rear spoiler. Really minor and most wouldn't notice but I'd like to get them sorted. So, I'd like to ask for recommendations please on companies in the South Coast area (preferably Portsmouth area) that could help with this.

Wheel refurb - while most companies use powder coating, I think originally they would have been sprayed silver, so although less durable this is what I'm trying to get arranged - any companies recommended would be appreciated?

Panel respray - fortunately, bonnet, boot and spoiler are complete panels that shouldn't be too difficult for a professional to undertake. Again, if anyone has had such work undertaken, please get in touch so I can get some quotes sorted out.

For now, myself and family (wife Sue and son Martin) are just enjoying the car (yes, they are both on the insurance) but it would be good to get these issues addressed before too long. Hope to see some of you out and about this summer.

Kind regards
Dave

Welcome back Dave.

Nice choice of car[:)] Like me once buying a car I like to get things sorted. I find if I don't do these jobs straight after purchase they will never get done.

Sorry I don't live in your area so cant help with recommendations. Perhaps drop your Regional Orgniser a line?

Perfect colour!

The R17 ROs send a monthly email listing events/meetings. Unfortunately the R17 forum is rarely used but I understand that there is a ‘whatsapp’ group for those who are fans of social media. The July monthly meeting is scheduled to be held at "Brookspeed” in Eastleigh.

I think that you can set R17 to be your home region in your forum profile, you can also add a neighbouring region such as Surrey.

This weekend R17 have a members display at the Thruxton Historic race meeting.

Good to hear from those who have replied. No specific recommendations as yet so maybe as suggested need to cast my net a little further within the club.
Thanks all and will let you know how I get on.
We've a stay-cation planned at the end of the month in Cornwall and are currently working out what we can and can't take due to space, thank goodness I didn't go along with an earlier option of a BMW Z4 35i because as much as I do like them, not even enough boot space for wife's sandals and clothes, good choice of car that I ended up with in the end I think, put enough miles on it now to have confidence that it's not going to let us down. Just need some good weather which looking out the window as I type is not quite what I had in mind but still time to surprise us both! [:)] oh well, at least it's a holiday! Take care all.....
Regards, Dave

A couple of companies who I've heard good things from, particularly over on Detailing World.

Lepsons

May be a courier job for you to get the wheel to and from.
But most people rave about their quality

Closer to you
The Wheel Specialist

A franchised company I believe, our closest one at Nottingham has a good reputation and a friend had his Audi wheels refurbed there and he was more than happy with the quality

Hope this helps a bit?

Thanks for the info James, will take a look at their website in a while for the one at Fareham as that's just a few miles away. Would much rather go with a recommendation for good quality as only want to do this once [:)]
Cheers Dave
