Last week I was comI got down the M6 from the Lakes when I heard an almighty bang that sounded like it came from the offside of the car, and both my wife and I thought is must be a stone that had rattled around the rear wheel arch.
When I got home I found out that stone had hit the drivers door and then continued on the the rear wheel arch. They do stick out a bit ??. I always get the sickening feeling when I see paint damage. It’s so upsetting when the car is fairly new and only 700 miles on it.
When I bought the car new it went straight to have additional PPF put on at Steve Fairhurst‘s place, Black Magic, in Carlisle who did a perfect job.
The mark on the door is above the additional PPF but is minimal, it must have just glanced off it, and with a little deft touch up should be pretty well inconspicuous (fingers crossed). Touch up paint has been duly ordered from PC Bolton who always give me excellent service.
The rear wing took the brunt of the hit and was marked it 3 places within a couple of inches, so it must have been a fairly sizeable stone. Steve had put on a fairly large and extended PPF on the rear wing and then reapplied the factory size PPF as second sacraficial layer. The stone hit above the factory PFF but thankfully the damage was to the additional PPF and none at all to the paintwork beneath!!! Phew!
I am really thankful that I took the advice of my friend Mike Trotter and had this additional PPF fitted to my car.
Carlisle is a 100 miles north of me but I will be returning to let Steve and his team fit a new piece of PPF in due course.
