Hi all - New member and very pleased to be picking my new Turbo S in the next couple of weeks!

Quick question - I have been sent the link to set up Porsche connect and it has the option to activate the Porsche security package, which I'm considering doing but want to know if others have gone down this route or gone for a separate tracker?

Have had Vodafone trackers fitted to previous cars, but if the Porsche one is as good, and as recognized by insurance companies then is that the best way forward. To be honest for me its more about ticking the 'insurance box' than anything else, as if it gets stolen I'm not sure id want it back

Any insight would be appreciated and when I get the car Ill post some pictures!

Hi Simon,
Welcome to PCGB and 992 Register. Congratulations on your new motor - exciting times are ahead. [:)] Don't activate Porsche connect services until collection or you may lose those days during the runup.

Check whether or not your insurance company requires an activated tracker (mine doesn't) and if not, you can always use remote services to locate your car if it ever goes walkabout. If mandatory for insurance, then I would advise activating the Porsche unit that comes supplied with a pair of transponders. One of these needs to be present whenever the vehicle is in motion.

Looking forward to see the photos. Where are you collecting it from?

Regards,

Clive

Thanks Clive

Its been a fair wait, but worth it as it was the car on my teenage bedroom wall! I've been a prolific Audi RS fan, having just got rid of a 15 month old RS6 last week with a long list of other RS's behind it. Its only my second Porsche (bought a new Boxster S back in 2001) so very excited to getting back into another one!

Currently my insurance quotes are with a tracker and it does seem to drop the price a fair bit (as much as the Porsche security service will cost) so net net ill' be about the same

Collecting from Cambridge Porsche. Its arrived and will be PDI'd soon but then Im having it fully PPF'd etc before collection so hoping to pick it up not long after the Bank Holiday weekend

Cant wait!

Production delays have resulted in an 18 month waiting list for Turbo S's atm and available cars seem to be fetching premiums. However, there are one or two turning up at dealers from orders that have been in the pipeline for a while.

In a very depleted stock Bristol Centre showroom yesterday sat in a corner awaiting collection, was a very nice new 992 TTS in GT Silver with aero kit and gloss black accents. [8D]

Regards,

Clive

I had heard that. Placed my order and deposit in July last year so think I was fairly lucky to only have to wait 10 ish months!

I have no plans to sell but it some people are making a quick profit!
