Manthey Racing Upgrades to be offered via Tequipment

QUOTE:
The Manthey Performance Kit is part of the expanded product range at Porsche Tequipment: Porsche Tequipment is now offering new components with road approval. The parts are being developed in collaboration with long-standing Porsche partner and current affiliate Manthey-Racing GmbH. In future, the Performance Parts programme including a kit for the 911 GT2 RS of the 991 generation will initially be available to order for customers in Europe, with other markets following successively. The Performance Kit includes an aerodynamics package, coilover suspension, special brake components and magnesium wheels

So presumably warranty will not be invalidated.

The question is … for those who’ve already purchased MR parts recently, is it retrospective?

Probably not, I suspect they'd need to be bought through an OPC.  In my case I've not gone for the MR kit itself but the Clubsport car's Motorsport parts.  The top mounts for the front are the same parts, the rear toe links are different.

I'm interested to see what price the MR bits come out at via an OPC and if they offer anything other than the MR kits.

Manthey`s warranty section mentions that some of it`s parts are not approved for road use ...

For those that have already purchased these, was there such a disclaimer in the packaging / invoice ?

I think only Mannylon has bought the Mathey kit.  TDT has bougth KW shocks for his 981 GT4 but I think from KW to Manthey spec, not from Manthey.

If you know the history of the development of the Full 981 GT4 MR chassis package…there are 3 flavours, Competition, Clubsport and upgrade for OEM. For the Clubsport, MR took the KW Clubsport damper package in this case and developed their own tuning for bump and rebound, geo and ride height set up for various application, The Ring or GP circuits, which is then what gets applied to the car if you work with an MR Partner… RPM or JZM in the UK.
I have the official 981 MR arm package… complete with MR serial numbers and also the KW 3-way Clubsport as developed for MR by KW for the 981. .
Theoretically both ChrisW and I could apply for FULL GT4 MR designation (if we got the wing also), having worked with MR partners with this set-up, as we are running the same…. but for the various power upgrades which we have also done.

In more recent time MR have then been branding the top of the line KW Competition kits with black top mounts and green springs, and then also continued to worked more closely to develop specific spring rates and damper valving and calibration.

MR packages have been developed so that the car remains road legal and are TüV approved.
This is a major part of their development process and part of the reason why packages will now start to accepted as part of Porsche Approved…. Which might not be quite the same as full normal warranty in the text (back to back between Porsche and Manthey), but to a customer, effective amounts to the same thing.

That said, there may be components which you remove for road use of the car and then would fit or tweak when you go on track. e.g. front cage is not approved for road use, which is why Porsche don’t fit it, but you can buy it from MR or Porsche Motorsport.

I have just picked up on this ... I did ask about GT4 MR designation for my car ... I also have the MR BBS F1R wheels, but I was told that to do so I would need to remove my Surface Transform discs because ?

Since that would definitely be a retrograde step in both performance and longevity, I would not do it. But for both these reasons you also have to ask why ? Surely MR is far more than just a marketing badge ?

The tequipment announcement was a ruse so the GT2 RS MR could claim the Nordschleife record for standard road cars

Makes sense Ralph.  I think the GT3RS MR was also added to the Tequipment list not long ago but not for the UK if I remember rightly.  I assume that's the same for the GT2RS as well as I can't see it on Porsche's site...
