1969 911t Targa

Hi everyone,
new member to this site, thought I’d share my new project with you and grateful for all advice and help and parts required to put this back to original.
it’s a US spec 911T, currently has no engine or gearbox which I believe will not be cheap... and can anyone tell me what engine would this have? carb or injection?
also require floor plans any other parts that you see are needed from the photos..
trying to get some parts together before I start restoring.
i Found the original colour to be tangerine (baked)
and that’s as far as I’ve got...
is this classed as a swb or an lwb as all the panels I look for ask this question.
don’t know if the wheels are original or if they would be fuchs?
and front bumper, it would be so easy to get an rs kit front and rear but the best option would be to put it back to total original.
also have an 82 targa sc, does anyone know if the targa roof are the same as well as inner and outer sills.
Any help would be appreciated
will update pictures on here as I go.
am new to restoration.
cheers G

Hi G, I can look up more info on your car if you let me have the VIN.  I can also let you have a contact for you to get the KARDEX (original build spec) for your car.  I'm also restoring a 1969 911T and have an SC Targa!  Regards Barry

Hi Graham,

If your 911 is a 1969 model year then it is long wheel base, to research in detail you really need to know the chassis number, that'll be a 9 digit number in the format 119 xx xxxx

If you want to post the chassis number then happy to try and help with more info.

Good luck with your project ( I'm currently restoring a 911 2.0 litre E )

Nick

All original would have been a 2.0 engine. But since it won't be the original engine, you might as well put something fun in there. Probably the best, most readily available driver's engine for this car is a circa 1988 3.2 Carrera engine. You can get one (untested) for £10k - £15k.  That will give you 230 horsepower and great performance and reliability. Mated with the Getrag gearbox it's a very nice combination.

2001 Lapis Blue 996 Turbo
1970 Signal Orange 911T (currently in silver with whale tail)
1988 Black 3.2 restomod

To help you find an engine, I suggest you have a look at www.neilbainbridge.com.
We visited him at Westcott, North of Aylesbury some time ago when they had imported a large number of air cooled engines and other associated parts. You might find something suitable there.
Good luck with the rebuild.

Hi Barry, I am also trying to get some information on a 1969/70 911T Targa which I am about to start restoring.  The car is LH drive and is a European car imported to the UK in 1977 so is on a 77 "R" plate.  I have the VIN number which is a 1969 and the engine number which is a 1970 2.2 so I am guessing she is a very late 69 or early 70 crossover.  I have no other information on the car so any advice/help would be gratefully received.
