I quite like the RaceTex. Snug on a cool day with the roof down and not sweaty when temperatures rise. As for a choice of interior trim I’m not sure 😂

I would imagine RaceTex chafes when getting a wiggle on 😉

Race tex is man made cheap rubbish that they have the cheek to charge the same as leather for
full extended leather in my GTS.

Glad you got off the subject of Race Tex?
Went for my first cross country on Friday evening.
Decided I needed to have  a coffee on the coast. Drove the 54 miles To Burnham on Crouch, and back. Mixture of good B roads and quiet 2 lane A roads. What a fabulous car!
Failed to discover 2 things:
How to turn on the auto headlamp dip. Turned round the corners ok but couldn't get the auto symbol to come up.
Also the speed limit indicator does not appear in the bottom right of the right hand instrument. dial only on the map where it is obscured by my left knuckle?
Had no problem on my old 981? on my 981?
(Miss the electric steering column adjustment. Never really needed it, but it did give a sense of occasion!)
Any ideas. Thanks Keith

I assume you’re sure the car has it? Reason for asking is the cameras in the windscreen that control auto dip and do speed limit detection were in short supply (now unavailable) and these options went by the wayside.

I don't think either PDSL+ or the speed limiti indicator have been available on the 718 for almost a year.
Did you have an electric steering column adjuster on your 981?

PDLS+  speed limiter both not available due to windscreen camera shortages.
electric steering column taken off as a memory package option on more than just 718 models, and they wont retrofit even though paid for it as part of the 14/18way seat memory package, as motors not available.
This is what I was told by my OPC

Well that explains that. Yes had the electric column adjustment on the 981.

Glenn, pretty much what my OPC said re steering column. Apparently quite a few chips for that. It is the speed limit indicator that I miss. Thought that would have worked off the PCM, as a repeater for the one on the map display?

I had the speed limiter ticked Keith. would have been nice to have it built into car.
I know a lot of people prefer to use the function on waze as it has live updates of speed traps.

Keith.
re the PDLS have you tried either pushing the headlight flash stalk forward or pull it towards you as if to flash the headlight. That activates the auto headlight dip and it lights up green on the dash

PDSL+ hasn't been available for quite a long time on the 718.

Hi Guys, changing the subject slightly, anyone had an issues with GPF filters ? Worrying debate on the Cayman section about failures not being covered by warranty and costing £5800 ❗️It could be just the 4cyl engine but thought I would ask 🤔

If it’s not covered under warranty bin it and get a sports exhaust 😀

So I just picked up my car from the guys that I got to fit the Car Graphic controller - they had the car for 2 days in the end and I had a chat with the installer who had to spend a little more time fitting the unit than he'd expected so I thought I would post what I found out, and first drive experience.

The controller I received was the latest Car Graphic that controls the valves via the SE button in the cabin and does away with the external remote - all good so far although I must admit, when I ordered a controller from Scuderia, I didn't realise this was the version they would source and send.

The first issue I had was that although Scuderia are an official UK importer, they had to import from Germany via special order - that ended up taking a month to arrive via a courier who then immediately sent it back to Germany because the import tax hadn't been paid ! In the end, it took 2 months to actually get the part - thank Brexit for that :-)

Onto the install - from speaking to the installer this evening, he told me that when he started to look at the kit and the instructions that are on the Car Graphic website and which you have to download (none are sent with the kit), he quickly realised that the wiring is set up for left hand drive cars. This meant that he had to make a couple of extra wiring extensions so that he could locate the part where it is supposed to go (in a recess under the passenger seat carpet) and still reach the inputs it was designed for. Once he'd worked that out and made up the wiring, he said the install was relatively straightforward.

I am going to check with the importer to see if there are options for RH and LH cars as this will obviously catch people out like me.....

Onto the driving experience - a quick blast around the lanes tonight with the roof down, and in all driving modes, revealed a lovely deep throaty exhaust note that builds all the way through the rev range.

It's very addictive and obviously I can switch the SE off and the car returns to normal.

I can see where the comment about increased drone comes from - the exhaust note at a steady and constant speed is certainly apparent, but then I wouldn't have the valves open when sitting on the motorway anyway and would just turn it off.

Hope this is helpful to anyone interested in installing this bit of kit.

if you do decide to get one and you’re in Essex area and want someone to fit it for you, then ask for John at Porsche Specialist Services - he’s an expert now :-)
