It might help if I'd attached the pictures correctly - not sure why they aren't showing?

JurassicGTSAgree, far better than my old 2 ways and gives you all the memory settings, comfort access and dipping passenger mirror.

I think the issue around the 18 and 14 ways compared to the 2-way Sports Seats Plus can be fit for the taller driver.

I'm a slim 6'2" and on the former I don't really fit. The seat needs to be fully aft, and to do that means it will be a little higher than the 2-ways. It's not much, maybe 20mm, but that is enough for the steering wheel to be too close to my legs.

Hence it's advisable for the taller driver to try before you buy.

I find the 2 way(SSP) to be extremely comfortable, and an observation over a number of comparisons on otherwise identical seats... alcantara/RaceTex makes a seat feel softer when compared to the same seat with leather. I don't have a lot of "rear padding" so an sensitive to even a slightly firmer feel.

From what I'm led to believe, the 14 & 18 ways sit slightly higher than the SSP due to the height needed to accommodate the motors and, if fitted, fan for ventilated seats.

I'm 5' 7" and 70 kgs and the SSP seats fit perfectly but you definitely need to try them.

I am 6' and have no issue with either length of travel or height with the 18 ways. I don't have the seat fully back and steering wheel is in a perfect position.

Hi Guys, could not find a Boxster 4.0 GTS demo so had test drive in Cayman with 18way at Portsmouth. What a difference to my 14plate 981S 😱 I thought I would need a lot of convincing but oh no. The car had standard exhaust but I got a shock on start up, sounds like a GT3 until settled down, fantastic and the PASM -20mm as standard was also a revelation, more comfortable than 981S over rough and bumpy  town/A roads with no banging and crashing from suspension, quite amazing. 18 way seats brilliant, I am 6ft and find the 2way seats give me back ache so I need to use cruise control all the time but No problem with 18way squab tilted up to give thigh support, also means seat can go forward to allow more rake of back 👍 Overall a brilliant machine, the exhaust note with roof down must be fabulous. Going France for Classic Le Mans next week and beyond so will give the old girl a decent run, haven’t told her it might be her last trip ☹️ Enjoy your 4.0 Litres, I can’t wait.

Great post about your feelings having driven the 4.0.
I echo everything you have highlighted, and just get more and more impressed with this engine and the overall package that the 4.0 GTS delivers.
Enjoy yours when it arrives, I am having an absolute blast in mine😁

Thanks for interest in my test drive 👍 I forgot to mention, there was a New Cayman  4.0 GTS sitting in Portsmouth showroom and a Boxster 4.0 GTS waiting for collection which was ordered 2021.

Re: GTS 4.0 2023/06/29 15:46:14 (permalink)
I finally picked up my new car yesterday afternoon. It's now at a local specialist for a front-end PPF and ceramic coating, and they may fit my Zunsport grilles too.  I only managed around 30 miles before handing it over and it took me a while to get to grips with the electronic handbrake, but I got there in the end. The engine is even more awesome (and loud) than I remember and I'm really pleased with my option choices.  I hope to pick it up again on Tuesday and to start using it properly then.  I'll add some pictures once I've worked out how to do that on this site.

Thanks again to Rob for the pre-PDI pictures, which helped when I had a minor wibble on seeing the final invoice detailing a different spec to the one I had ordered! And, unless he wants them, in return for a promised charity donation only, there will be a free front & rear boot liner set and an official Porsche keyring available to the first person willing to collect them here in Dorset.  I'd already bought my own in advance and ended up with another set yesterday when the OPC gifted them to me, along with an umbrella, coffee mugs, etc!

Flickr just won't let me in - I've tried 3 password resets now, so here is an Amazon Photos link instead: https://www.amazon.co.uk/photos/share/3NIU1d17QRZzVLHOU3uE9wgVEKQFKMPs3fExrlP9nL6. As you can see, the colour looks very different depending on the  light

Those 2 colours can look very similar too actually. I had a Seal Grey 997 C2S & a Meteor Grey (I think?) 987 Boxster S, so I thought I’d try something a bit different this time. I also had a Speed Yellow 986 S, but we won’t dwell on that….

Make sure you mention your PPF to your insurer. Some are throwing a wobbler about it.

Yes indeed. Have good policy/premium with Aviva on my 981. They have declined to insure my 718 when it arrives next month with PPF. Keith
