INSURANCE

You tried ringing Mannings as I've been with them 17 years with my Targa and no price jumps like that

Graham

Hi All,

I know this seems to be a ongoing problem, I have just had my renewal quote from Manning, last year 584.64, this year 985.00, a 68% increase. In the press it said premiums were reducing due to covid!

The car is a 1998, Turbo club value 180K. Any suggestions please excluding Lockton as they do not return calls!

I've just been through exactly same process - same car ('98 turbo) and renewal date was yesterday.

Having shopped around, I went with AIB.

https://www.aib-insurance.co.uk/

The previous insurance renewal premium quote was £830, AIB was £485 including £15 for roadside assistance.

It was easy experience; can't remember the name of the lady who was so good, but I think she deals with most of their classic car policies.

Good luck, happy to provide any more info via PM.

Hi All

Thanks very much for all your input. I will be beavering away on the phone Thursday. A note, it was lockton that did not return calls and I do have a gt3rs insured with them. Have been insured with manning on 993 turbo for about 12 years. Manning are still insuring my turbo s and m coupe, definitely not the 993 turbo for this renewal.

Valuation on car was PCGB, low mileage and OPC service from new.

I will post with who I insure with once agreed.

all the best

Terry

Hi Matt,

Thanks I have liked at that and despite the mileage, it looks good value. Prices are a nightmare, I suppose only a problem if you want to dispose of the vehicle. Mine's a keeper for me.

I think that Collecting car one was good value for someone

Pretty sure the Classicline quote is that high due to the value, mine is under £600 at £100K

Hi Terry. FYI, I have also just had a renewal letter from ManningUK, and was unpleasantly surprised by a 10% increase ... I can only guess how you feel.

Apparently, they have had a bad 12 month period for the "specialist" cars they insure.

I tried Lockton a few years ago, but they couldn't come near what ManningUK offered at the time. I might give Classicline a look ...

Hi All

Thanks very much for all your suggestions. I have now insured my car with AIB premium is £577. I am happy with that.

Terry

I went with Footman James, all sorts of added extras including guaranteed minimum value at £385.

Non turbo though, 993 c2 with 200k on the clock.
