We are developing plans for our annual Porsche Pageant and Concours Competition which this year will be held at Cromford Meadows in the beautiful Derwent Valley countryside. We are delighted to have continued sponsorship from Porsche Centre Nottingham who will be present with a display of new cars and a selection of Porsche regalia. There will also be other stalls of interest.

After 16 years at Chatsworth House we have moved to this new venue situated off the A6 between Derby and Matlock. Our site is a huge flat grass sports field with space for more than 300 cars, ideal for bringing a picnic or you can purchase food from the food outlet on site either from the hot food van or from one of the nearby cafes - though these are usually quite busy. There will be an assortment of Porsche related stalls and exhibits.

Adjacent is the extensive Arkwrights Cromford Mill, a National Heritage site often seen on TV, with many visitor attractions, shops etc. (www.cromfordmills.org.uk). Close by is the small picturesque town of Cromford. Please be aware we are making a free film of the day which includes Drone use. Also of interest may be a narrrow boat trip on Cromford Canal, not only a site of Special Scientific Interest but also is in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This would have to be booked in advance. You may even be lucky enough to go on the horse drawn narrow boat. A link will be put on here when the covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

All is subject to Covid-19 rules relevant at the time.

Entry from 10.00 a.m. is £5 per car on the gate (no pre-booking needed) which includes free tea/coffee and a fantastic raffle.

The concours competition will have the usual classes - 1. Region 8 Air cooled, 2. Region 8 Water cooled and 3. Visitor Cars. Class 1 & 2 will also compete for overall Regional Champion. It is free to enter but entrants MUST be pre-booked. Contact r8@porscheclubgb.com for concours entry forms or use the links below:

Hi Laura -

Good news at last - looking forward to 27 June.
If you need any help on the day setting up etc let me know.

Regards - Randolph

PS - congratulations on your new appointment - you are going to be a busy girl.

Sounds great! I'm in R19 but am to/fro to Derbyshire for family reasons. Will try and get this one in the diary as well. Looking forward to it.

Hi and welcome to the Club and particularly to Region 8!

The Monday meets won't start until June I'm afraid and even then we will be limited to 30 members so it will be a "first come, first served" pre-booked list. You will get an email when the booking opens and, from past experience, it books up early. I will probably do a second meet so the unsuccessful folk can have first go at that.

With luck and vaccines, we should be able to get back to a more normal environment for July's meet but of course, the Cromford Meadows event will be before that.

Keep an eye on your in-box!!

Laura

Good evening all,

just to make sure, do we need to book in order to join forces in displaying cars at the Pageant Cromford event?

Hi Pascal,

You only need to book in advance if you want to enter you car into the concours competition. If you are coming as a visitor you don't need to book - just turn up with a fiver in your hand and you will be made welcome [:)]

Laura

You will always be welcome Randolph - many hands make light work and I think you've had practice in the past [:)]

Look forward to seeing you.

Laura

Thank you for organising this - something to look forward to at last!

We're in Staffordshire but look forward to attending - perhaps if there are any other members travelling from Shropshire/Staffordshire....there's nothing like a Porsche convoy :)

Can you confirm that this event and the Atlow one listed in the latest PP (got mine today) are going ahead, given that the 21st June date has passed and we are now waiting on 19th July re the next (and final?) covid rule relaxation?

Thanks
David

Thanks to all involved for making the Cromford meeting a success. Alison and I greatly enjoyed it and look forward to further steps towards 'normality' after this lengthy period of limited Porsche fun.

Paul

Thank you to R8 Region for welcoming R5 members to your Pageant.
For me personally it was actually my first club drive and event with my son (the main reason I bought my car in the first place to make memories) - Thank you for organising the photography... this picture means the world to me... Thank you R8

Best Wishes - Tom R5 Region, hope we get chance to return the favour in the North West

We were absolutely delighted with the response to our Region's Porsche Pageant at Cromford Meadow.

We welcomed Porsches from far and wide which created a wonderful display - all models in all colours. Thank you for making the journey to join us.

The concours entrants prepared their cars to such a high standard it gave the judges a difficult job. Well done all of you - including the judges.

See you next year at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham
