Anyone planning a Cayman meet post lockdown?

Morning Steve [:)]

John, the Cayman Register Secretary, discussed this on our Zoom call at the weekend. He's keeping an eye on the restriction rules and is hoping to start putting things together when it's possible to have a group meeting somewhere. A group of no more than 6 can meet now, so something small and local can take place for a few members. From 17 May we can have up to 30 so a gathering at one of the club's track days was suggested.

If you have an idea in mind, shout up! Someone local reading this may be up for a drive and a chat...

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone knows of or is planning on any Cayman meets now that Lockdown is starting to ease and the summer months are ahead of us?
Would be great to get out in the car and meet other owners.

Cheers
Steve

OK thanks for the feedback, probably getting ahead of myself - can't wait for lockdown to loosen up and meet people again!

Indeed - it's spectating at motor racing I'm most looking forward to, hopefully with a good old paddock browse....

Hello Steve,

Where are you based? I'm sure they'll be some local owners to you that would more than welcome a drive out within the "local" guidance, and as Dave pointed out you can meet up to 6 individuals without falling foul of the guidance...so you may get a few locals that are happy to do a road trip.

Dave, do you know when they are looking to open the spectator events from - I'd be interested in admiring/photographing lots of lovely cars - even though at the moment driving on the track isn't in my agenda - it'd be lovely to meet some other cars/people.

Hi Erica,

May 17 is the date for the start of spectating at race meetings. I'll be at Snetterton for the Boxster Cup racing on 5 June and the BTCC qualifying day the following Saturday, 12 June. Following that, I'll be at Oulton Park on 3 July for the Boxster Cup racing.

I think track days will also allow spectators after that same date, so any of the club's days could be good for a gathering.

Technically provided that members stayed in clear groups of six and did not switch or mingle between groups you could actually run an outside gathering under the current restrictions. This guidance is being applied to pub beer gardens etc as otherwise the pub would only have six people sat outside at any given time.

Edit: Under Club guidelines, provided that a risk assessment has been approved for an event then they can be official too.

Hi Erica,

I am based in Maidenhead, Berkshire but willing to travel further afield if necessary and of course following government guidelines.

Hello Steve,

Its a bit far for me - I'm based on the Derbyshire/Yorkshire border, but I'm sure there will be some local members that will be interested. You could always try posting this on your region too, if you are happy to meet with other members and not just caymans.

Note to Steve and other Caymanites.

When posting this sort item don’t forget to indicate where you’re based … we have members located everywhere in the UK!

If you feel comfortable with doing so you can include your location and/or Region in your profile (under Forum details - Signature) which then shows automatically on all your posts.

Apologies Jeff (& to all), rookie forum poster error.

The way we are doing it up here is to post a general location e.g Middleton area and ask anyone who is interested to pm you for a specific place and time. We meet there and then decide where to move on to. We could get together in multiple groups of six, but if a larger number of Caymans turn up in the same place, it is a bit obvious that we are bending the rules.

A good opportunity to get to know our nearest Cayman neighbours!

Caffeen and Machine are open every day till 10pm

just go there and ask others to meet up.

then if only 2 say yes it's still a good event as loads of cars there every night.
